Funnily enough, it would be easier to do the other way around šŸ˜‚

Next year (while having some elite top-end talent) seems to be that last year of where it's not quite got the full depth yet. I'm hoping over the early stages of next year that will change.

2024 though, boy oh boy that draft is going to be absolutely BONKERS. I would love it to be a national draft by then (I know basically no chance but would make it a real interesting time).
40 for both years eh RedmanWasHere :D

Another thing.

Would a player pronounciation guide be worth a shout or is that a bit naff by BF standards?
It could be handy, but I'd think only for the ones that are needed, wouldn't go every single player.

Looking forward to the top end SA talent in Lauren Young, Shineah Goody, Matilda Scholz and Piper Window.
I feel Port Power has a great need for Young as a big bodied midfielder and Scholz as a top ruck. Hoping Port don't get additional assistance.
With my Crows head on would like to see Goody who was SA best in State Under 18 in 2022 and Window currently 22 SANFLW games over 21&22 and a Premiership with Glenelg will likely be able to step right up at Adelaide.

Yeah all are in my top 20, as well as Molly Brooksby who I think is underrated. SANFLW is going to continue to be a ripper comp to watch next season. Hope they go to 14 rounds so each team can play each other twice.

If Adelaide finish top 4 and Port Adelaide finish bottom 6 I would expect there to be some type of equalisation in place for the SA pool to adjust the draft order or allow Port Adelaide to recruit readymade talent from established sides, similar to Gold Coast receiving assistance this year with Brisbane well ahead as the first team in the state.

Only problem with that is due to the limited lead in time and the stubborn desire not to admit defeat that they picked the wrong players initially I don't see wholesale list changes after this season. Maybe granted 2-3 picks before Crows. Don't expect readymade talent from established sides as assistance then that would open floodgates for all other stragglers. Increase list size but AFL have been adverse to this in the AFLW sphere in 7 seasons.

My final say in this thread given it closes up the representative duties for the year. Tasmanian Under 16s went head-to-head during the week in a South vs North battle. The top prospects (or already identified potentially elite talents) didn't play such as Mackenzie Williams (already Allies capped) and Priya Bowering (07-born superstar), so this was more about who might fill out the Devils list over the next few years.

Mia Anderson won the best-on medal and was pretty solid, has some nice moves around the stoppages and good smarts. Josie Rose (bigger-bodied forward but with a neat little burst and sidestep) kicked three last quarter goals after being thrown forward was another one who stood out. Sophie Strong (small with some speed) and Natasha Fujanic (good at stoppages but a bit of a quick boot to ball clearance player) were others for South. For North, didn't mind Harriet Bingley who loos as an inside midfielder with good power in the air and ground level, hard worker too. Georgia Gillow and Jorja Haberle (who both played in the defensive half) had moments with their intercepting and rebounding.

It's worth putting it in context that at this stage I wouldn't project any of those who played to be at the pointy end of their drafts. This was more about finding perhaps some later talents for the Devils, and I imagine these names are more late draftable to undraftable players. Obviously still a few years to go so they've each got a trait or two that catch the eye, let's see how they develop from here.

Full notes are here.

I don't think it would be massive assistance but an end of 1st round pick, or pick straight after their round 2 pick would seem likely if it happens. A few seasons ago WCE received a pick they had to trade and got Aishling McCarthy to move over from the Bulldogs, a solid B grader might be possible this season but it defeats the purpose if the player shifts from an also-ran.

The AFL will focus on how to get the Swans and GWS competitive for next season as that is their most likely problem with competitive balance in the next 3-5 years.
