Are the bulldogs not allowed to play home games at Skinner Reserve?
I know they kicked the cricket club off the ground for this and it seems nothing for the locals.

So there is 4 games around Melbourne on the GF public holiday Friday. Interesting

What happens if the AFL grand final is Richmond vs Brisbane. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Note: I think there is absolutely no chance of this happening

I have the same question ahead of this season as I did ahead of last season

Geelong is now entering their 5th season - what valid reason is there that we're yet to play Melbourne during the h&a season
Carlton still has never played West Coast too

What's the go with Blacktown not being used at all? What could be preventing GWS from playing there for a whole ten week block of time?

It’s understood that CA will focus on Thursday night prime time matches on Seven, leaving Friday night and Saturday night to be more the free-to-air domain of AFLW. The AFL moved its women’s season to an August start in part to provide greater clear air from the start of the men’s season, which had tended to cannibalise the end of the women’s season.

The current Broadcast deal:

Seven will broadcast two games a round in every state and territory, plus all the non-Victorian clubs' matches into their respective local markets, live on free-to-air television, with Foxtel to air every AFLW game live via its subscription service.

Seven will air its two games live on a Saturday each round.

From 2020 – when the competition expands to 14 teams – Seven will broadcast three games live each round, with Foxtel continuing to air every game live.

Note this deal was extended through to 2024.

I’m expecting 3 games. A Friday night game, and double header Saturday game on FT. Would like to see it laid out though

Moving to winter for the "top venues" huh? All those matches at the MCG, Marvel, SCG etc. really stand out in the fixture!

So many weak and flawed excuses moving to a winter start. We'll see at the season's conclusion how many of them actually make the game more successful than playing outside the men's season. They should've just moved it and left out their nonsensical reasons, they get what they want without p*ssing in our pockets.

Anyway, I can't wait for it all to get going again.

Few notes

  • Looks like the AFL wants to build a great atmosphere around the MCG precinct Grand Final eve and Grand Final day including Olympic Park Oval returning to host an AFLW game
  • Brisbane mentioned that wet weather in Qld has delayed the laying of turf at Brighton Homes Arena. Should be ready by finals. Round 10 is TBC Lions home game so I expect if the ground is ready, it’ll host that game too.
  • Geelong hosting a game at Ikon Park due to GMHBA being unavailable for the T20 World Cup
  • ETU Stadium in Port Melbourne hosting matches early in the year before being unavailable for cricket.

6 wins looks to me like it'll be enough to qualify for finals. Last season's top 6 all have a minimum of 6 games they should definitely win, so too the Bulldogs. Carlton and GWS have at least 5.

The rest should max out at 5 wins, or quite a bit less. In other words, despite 10 rounds for only 18 teams, I don't think any team will be sneaking into finals or falling out of contention due to a hard/easy fixture. If there's a surprise outcome, it'll either be deserved or the result of un/fortunate injuries.
