Prediction 2022 Best 22 Teams and discussion

We have few alternatives if Lobb goes and is not replaced. But I quite like the Hamling forward suggestion, Cox defender/ruck.
I would be happy with any of Cox, Hamling or Logue tried forward. Cox would make the best forward IMHO but apparently doesn’t want to do it. Hamling was reported as wanting to do it a couple of years ago so that is a good place to start.

I also like the idea of a smaller player doing a bit of the around the ground rucking as Blake Acres did with adequacy. Ethan Hughes and Bailey Banfield both have the physicality to be possibilities.

Yes that’s Casboult. Don’t mind it. Cheap stop gap that can clunk a mark and give Swaggy a chop out until draft picks come on or we get English/Jackson back over here. Also, with 2 big lumps like Swaggy and Levi they could really work over oppo rucks physically.

Brodie has a big preseason and earns his spot on a wing in the midfield rotation.

Valente gets a clear run at it too and also earns a spot.

Clarke obvies.

Shultz/Switta/Colyer unlucky. I’ve gone full offensive kick a shitload of goals mode. The way the game is going and with the ‘Stand’ rule I think game plans will start to go more and more attacking, hence the lack of forward pressure players.

Be interesting to see what happens with Hamling/Cox/Logue if we don’t pick up a big bloke.

If Hamling comes good and forces his way in maybe Logue into a forward pocket.

I think recency bias is making people forget just how good a backman Hamling is. If he's fit he's a lock for the best 22.

B: Ryan - Cox - Logue
HB: Young - Pearce - Chapman
C: Clark - Serong - Aish
HF: Walters - Treacy - Colyer
F: Schultz - Taberner - Sturt
R: Darcy - Fyfe - Brayshaw
I/C: Mundy - Henry - Hamling - Brodie
EMERG: Lobb - Walker - Frederick - Tucker

IF we can keep everyone fit, this suddenly becomes a pleasingly challenging exercise. Big pre-season ahead.

(Probably overly harsh on Lobb, but you know what? * him.)

No bias from me he’s a champ. Very doubtful he’s back on the park at the start of next season. Hope I’m wrong.

I love the idea of cox going forward. I reckon he could be huge now he is confident at the level. Just depends on Hamling fitness

Colyer should be phased out next year if injuries allow us, depth only
Sturt and Switkowski need to stay fit but otherwise Colyer/Henry/Western take one of their spots
If we lose a Key then Hamling comes in
If Logue or Ryan go down then Hughes is likely first in line
Wilson is backup for Young/Walker dependant on their form and if Wilson is terrible at Peel then Clark has the ability to move back.
Taberner, Lobb and Treacy will be backed up by pick 6 or 8, whichever one is the tall. We must play 3 talls, really need Lobb as second ruck.
Meek the clear backup for Darcy and should only play if Darcy is missing.
Freddy and Clark are my first choice wingers, Aish and Chapman can roll through there of both roll through defense.
Tucker is the interesting one, don't really have a spot for him but if he is in the team it is as a mid IMO, so probably first in line as a mid over Blakely.
Don't really have anything to change after the trade period, I was sneaky and already included Clark

Brodie and Tucker fighting it out for the medisub spot

Will see what the draft brings now

If Tucker is in our best 22 then we have no hope of playing finals next year, the guy is a B- player at the best and we should exit him and bring in a young kid who might develop into a good player
For those that are his fans i ask what other team would he get a game with, maybe North but definately not in a top 8 team, the club needs to get rid of the list cloggers

How many B- (or worse) players were in our 2013 side that got pretty close to a flag? 5? 6? 7? 8?
