With pick 25 Buffalo Bills select Andrew Booth CB Clemson

325683

Buffalo was shredded through the air in the 4th qtr of divisional playoff game. While they have a good defense, for it to be SUPER they need to ensure their secondary can stop the big pass plays in the 4th qtr against a likely AFC West high flying opponent in the playoffs.

Tredavious White will return from injury, but may need time to ease into season, the bills need another corner.

Booth is a long armed corner who uses his size in press coverage, shows good speed. WIll be ready to play in Week 1 and establish as a starter early in year. Booth has good Ball sense with 3 picks and 5 Passes defended last season.

Titans select

Matt Corral - QB - Ole Miss

Tann ain’t it. I’m sure they’re going to be tempted to throw everything at having at shot this season, but it Pickett or Corral is here they should take them.

Pickett I feel will go higher but I prefer Corral.

Bucs select

Demarvin Leal - DT - Texas A&M

With an interior of Suh, Gholston and McLendon all edging towards retirement the Bucs desperately need some youth inside coming through, Leal is a good place to start. He brings versatility, great technique and an ability to get to opposing QBs. 8.5 sacks and 11 tackles for loss for Texas A&M last season.

Packers select

Zion Johnson, OL, Boston College

Packers O-Line has been ravaged by injury two years in a row now, and also let a couple of pieces depart in FA, and while we've done an excellent job of patching over the the issues, it's time to stock up with some talent. Johnson is versatile so he'll be loved by coaches immediately. He and Jenkins would make a fine Guard tandem. Strong, aggressive and physical will be mainstay on any O-Line for the next 10 years.

Pick 29 Kansas City Chiefs select -

George Pickens WR Georgia

Sammy Watkins and Josh Gordon never worked out at the Chiefs and with Hill moving on i felt a WR with pace to complement the Chiefs downfield passing offence was the way to go here. Coming off an ACL injury Pickens may not have immediate impact but his boom or bust potential is worth a pick here.

Pick 30 Kansas City Chiefs select -

Boye Mafe Edge Minnesota

Bringing in a monster like Mafe to the front seven in the draft would create a hopeful sense that the defence can progress in 2022 and beyond. Mafe was one of the best players at the 2022 Senior Bowl. Considering his Combine results it now seems unlikely that he will be available at pick 50. Mafe is a potential cornerstone defensive addition.

#31 BENGALS - DEVONTE WYATT, DT, GEORGIA

iu

The Bengals invested heavily in the OL during FA, and they'll probably still grab a couple in the latter rounds for depth and development. Of bigger need then is CB, DL, and LB. There's some choice at CB but I've gone with DL as it tapers off quicker than CB does in the following round.

The Bengals have Hill and Reader, but lost Ongunjobi in FA, so there is much depth still needed at the position, and a healthy rotation of DL is always important during games/season.

After seeing Aaron Donald destroy them in the Super Bowl, the pain of a destructive force in the interior lingers in their minds, and a usual response when retooling is to copycat/mirror -- OL/DL in this case. Wyatt can anchor, but he is also a one-gapping type who can get into the backfield and disrupt either the RB or the QB. He also has excellent athletic hustle to go chasing a player down field or across field.

QB is obviously one of the biggest weaknesses of the Lions roster as it is clear that Jared Goff is not a long-term solution. Pickett probably goes off the board higher than 32 irl, but I have the Lions taking a QB here so they have the 5th year option if he works out (something I am not confident happens for any QB in this year's draft). Sure it would mean playing a minimum of 3 games a year in the north outdoors, but the fact that the Lions home stadium is a dome will help to protect his tiny baby hands from turning the ball over too much

Bernhard Raimann OL
CENTRAL MICHIGAN • JR • 6'6" / 303 LBS

Trevor Lawrence needs some good quality O-lineman if his going to go anywhere. With them taking best player available at No 1 pick then need to shore up their line with this pick. Raimann is a developing prospect after switching from tight end to offensive tackle in 2020. He has a good skill set with size, speed and athleticism.

With the 34rd pick, the Detroit Lions select Jaquan Brisker, S, Penn State

USATSI_16784415.jpg

The Lions have one of the worst groups at the position in the league, and Brisker is arguably the 2nd best safety in the draft. He's super athletic, having made Bruce Feldman's Freaks List and it shows up on tape. He is reportedly a great leader too. He is more of a box safety, but is more than capable of playing as a split safety in a 2 high system

Quite a few intriguing players left on the board, but with pick #35, the Jets select Kyler Gordon, CB, Washington State.

194121.jpg

The Jets' secondary was poor last season, although with some bright spots among the cornerback room. The Jets have set out to improve the secondary, adding D.J. Reed in free agency. However, there's still room for improvement, and the Jets seek to address this by drafting Kyler Gordon. He has all the physical tools required to be a good starting cornerback in the NFL. His tape suggests that he has the athleticism to play press, off-man and zone coverages and he isn't afraid to get physical in tackling. Reed and Gordon on the boundary will help strengthen the run defence of the Jets. Gordon is a bit of a work in progress in terms of pass coverage - in particular, he'll need to work on his route recognition and anticipation, but if he can get these right, then the Jets will drastically improve their secondary compared to 2021.

Gordon was a competitive dancer in his youth, traveling the world until he was about 15, dancing a variety of styles, including jazz, lyrical, contemporary, ballet and hip hop. He also practised Kung Fu along the way, and he credits both his dancing and the Kung Fu as improving his body control. In 2021, Gordon allowed 21 catches on 41 targets, for a combined 243 yards and zero touchdowns.

Giants select David Ojabo - EDGE

Giants with their two high firsts can afford to make the patient / value pick here on Ojabo who probably would have been a top 15 pick without his recent injury.

With pick #38, the New York Jets select Travis Jones, DT, Connecticut

623bf9d08cd72.image.jpg

A lot of Jets fans will likely be groaning with this pick. Why spend an early second rounder on a nose tackle, they're probably asking themselves? Well, it's because the Jets have a need for a space-eating nose tackle who can stiffen the defensive line against the run. The Jets ranked near the bottom of the league in 2021 against the run and lost Foley Fotukasi (also from Connecticut) in free agency, so this is definitely a case of need meets talent. Jones made 134 tackles (including 8.5 sacks) in three years of play at the University of Connecticut. Jones is a mountain of a man (6'4", 325lbs), and a man of that size is difficult to move when he wants to anchor himself against the run. Saleh will be able to position Jones to eat up gaps and to make life difficult for opposing running backs, and if he gets after the quarterback occasionally, that's a bonus.

It's difficult to find a player in the draft without too many weaknesses, and Jones has some - he's not a quick twitch athlete by any stretch of the imagination, which will limit his capacity to rush the passer, and has room for improvement with his pad level and hand usage. But he comes to the Jets as a coachable talent and with a floor as a player that already suggests that he has a role to play on the defence, with upside that suggests that he could win himself a three-down role some time this season. He's no Aaron Donald, but then again, few defensive tackles are.

With pick #39, the Chicago Bears select Jahan Dotson, WR, Penn State

USATSI_17244483_168393729_lowres.jpg

The Bears lost Allen Robinson in free agency and while they added Byron Pringle to the wide receivers room, a duo of Mooney and Pringle isn't going to get things done for Justin Fields. So the Bears were pleased to see Dotson left on the board for them to come in and swoop on with their first pick in the 2022 draft.

Dotson is used to cold weather football, having played four seasons with the Lions (including the COVID-shortened 2020 season). In 2021, Dotson had 91 receptions and 1,182 yards, with 12 touchdowns, in 12 starts for the Lions. Dotson has no concerns operating in all areas of the field. His route running is pretty good, and he has excellent ball skills. He'll need to put on some muscle without sacrificing his speed in order to replicate his feats at the college level in the pros, but he adds value to the wide receivers room for the Bears and gives Fields another weapon to target in the passing game.

With the 40th pick, the Seattle Seahawks select:

Daniel Faalele - OT – Minnesota

84432e0ec9f900bdfe462a5322272c7f

This is an interesting pick to me. More o-line help is needed (particularly at tackle) but being an Aussie, Faalele has only been playing for 5 years and has some serious boom or bust potential. The Seahawks will like seeing that his production improved each year and will hope it can continue (the downside of that is that Seattle aren’t good at developing offensive linemen). The only downside to the pick is that Faalele is more of a project player and backup (IMO) than an instant starter which is what the Seahawks need, but I don’t think there are any of those left on the board. His size at 6’8” (some places list him at 6'9" but the NFL website has him 6'8") and 384lbs made him too good of a prospect to turn down.

With the 41st pick, the Seattle Seahawks select:

Logan Hall - DT – Houston

usa_today_16910680.0.jpg

Seattle need to address both the interior and edge of the defensive line either in the draft or free agency so I have gone with the tackle that projects as an DE in the pros. Hall had a good 2021 season with 7 sacks and 7 QB hits up from 1 and 4 in 2020 and none in 2019 as a freshman. Where he eventually fits in in Seattle I don’t know but the organisation will love his flexibility to play inside or outside.

With the 42nd pick the Indianapolis Colts select Jalen Pitre, Safety from Baylor.

Had to choice of reaching for somebody like a Tyler Smith because we need a LT or just going with my kinda draft crush and best player on the board and since we need help everywhere, I'm going with Pitre.

Dannyreed is up with the Falcons but idk how to use the tag feature.

Atlanta Falcons select Christian Watson WR NDSU
1648592471713.jpeg

Mainly because the Falcons need warm bodies to line up at WR but also because Watson is an intriguing option. At 6'4" with a 4.36 40-yard dash at the combine he provides some enviable traits. His production at NDSU has been mainly as a deep threat and finished his NDSU career averaging over 20 yards per catch. Personally I think Watson has that scope in the pros, he creates separation vertically and has very consistent hands not sure if he can be a true number 1. That being said at this position in the draft with Atlanta's glaring holes at WR if I'm hoping someone can develop into a star I'm betting on the 6'4" guy who can run over the other options.

The Cleveland Browns select Phidarian Mathis, DT, Alabama

GettyImages-1295907967.jpg

Alabama has churned out plenty of NFL-calibre defensive linemen over the years, and I'd say that Mathis is yet another one produced by that college football factory. He's probably on the older side of the rookie class, having been recruited to the Crimson Tide before the 2017 season (which he then redshirted while his teammates went on to claim the national championship). But he started producing as soon as he hit the field in 2018, doing enough to be named to the All-Freshman Team in 2018 (18 tackles in 15 games coming off the bench). As a sophomore, he collected 27 tackles in 12 games (2 starts). In 2020, Mathis started six games (13 games overall), racking up 31 tackles, 5 TFLs, 1.5 sacks and three passes broken up. He earned second-team All-SEC nod in 2021, for 53 tackles, including 12 tackles for loss and nine sacks, plus two passes broken up in 15 games (12 started).

As you'd expected from someone with several years of experience at the Crimson Tide, Mathis is a Nick Saban-style run-plugger with powerful hands and a dense anchor. He'll slot straight in to the Browns' defensive line rotation as a two down run stuffer, particularly up against teams that utilise a downhill rush attack rather than move-blocking schemes. The Browns defensive line is in flux at the moment, and needs some reinforcements. Mathis isn't the flashy type, but he's talented and comes with a strong work ethic formed by his years with Alabama. He has his warts, but it's not many that come out of the NFL draft and step into the NFL at a high level.

A red-shirt Senior who transferred from Temple to Penn State after the 2020 season to replace Odafe Oweh, the Ravens draft pick from 2020, Ebiketie is a bendy, explosive edge rusher who could see his name called at the end of round 1 irl. While the Ravens did use a premium pick on the position last year, you can never have enough pass rushers so he's the pick here. A little smaller/shorter than ideal and with a need to work on his run defense, he will likely find a role as a pass rusher specialist early in his career.

This pick ultimately came down to one of three prospects I like who were still remaining at this stage of the draft

Versatile Offensive lineman who played multiple positions in college. Great movement for a guard his size.

Washington Commanders select with pick 47 Kaiir Elam CB, Florida

Elam played really well to open the 2021 season, including an impressive performance against Alabama. After missing a few games with an injury, Elam returned to the field and played well for the Gators. In 2021, Elam totaled 27 tackles, three passes broken up and an interception. He really helped himself by running faster than expected at the combine. Border line first round talent his good value for the redskins here especially with Kenyon Green who we wanted going the pick before us.
