Dons reach 50k members in record time
The Bombers are heading into a momentous year with momentum.

Essendon has surpassed 50,000 members in record time as it launches into its 150-year anniversary with momentum.

The milestone, achieved on the back of an exciting 2021 season, puts the club in a strong position to break its all-time membership record of 85,348 in a landmark 2022.

CEO Xavier Campbell thanked the Bomber faithful for their mighty support.

“To reach the 50,000 milestone in record time is a reflection of the passion, pride and commitment of the red and black faithful who are on this exciting journey with us,” Campbell said.

“Our members have been the lifeblood of our club throughout the highs and lows of our 150-year history, and will shape our promising future.

“We look forward to celebrating a momentous year in 2022 with them.”

I hope we finally break 50k. Once we get past the hurdles we usually don’t go back. The fact that winning a flag in the next couple years could even get us to aim at 60k is something I wouldn’t have thought would be the case 10 years ago.

The fact that I can see Richmond getting 120k+ members in my lifetime is unbelievable. Biggest club that has also set itself up for the next generation with those three flags.

About 11,500 is the figure from my understanding..

I think back in 2019 Collingwood had 12,500 Afl members. About 1 out of every 6 afl members were Collingwood supporters. Carlton were second with 7,500 and Essendon were next with 7,200. Richmond were next with 5,000 then cats about 4,900

Collingwood - 45,092.

I still think it’s missing the AFL members otherwise I can’t explain why the figure feels a bit low. I’m sure it’s closer to 58,000 or something like that.
