The main thing that has changed between now and when we reappointed him is Finnis moving on and Lethlean becoming CEO.

Was it that Finnis was a massive Ratten supporter and Lethlean wasn't convinced?

Very bizaare.

IMO it’s a combination of Lethlean becoming CEO, Noble’s observations with the review, the President’s public utterances about mediocrity, and the appointment of Geoff Walsh.

This has the feel of a Richmond style ruthlessness about it. Those of us who are old enough remember the Tigers from the 60s to the 80s. People’s feeling didn’t matter, the club wouldn’t tolerate mediocrity. Absolutely brutal.

They had hard bastards in charge like Graeme Richmond, Ian Wilson, Ray Dunn and Allan Schwab. They even moved on Tom Hafey after the 1976 season.

I’m seeing similar parallels with this. And I wouldn’t mind betting there are more big changes to come.

Results are the only things that matter. And it starts off-field with accountability and achieving results. Not for the faint hearted.

I know he recently re-signed, but with the review completed, Walsh appointment and trade period now finished, I wouldn’t be surprised if Ratten is sacked in the next week.

Come on, fess up….you heard about this from someone?

Otherwise you need to change your username to Nostradamus.

Personally would really like to see Robert Harvey given the opportunity. Voss, Buckley and Hird were all given the opportunity to coach their sides with a far less comprehensive coaching apprenticeship than what Banger has already completed. Hoping he gets the opportunity to coach the club he served so well as a player.

I'd love a coach who creates a football factory, like GT did. Countless players were successful and went on to coach or in the media. Would they have been so successful if GT wasn't our coach at the time? BTW I'm not saying bring GT back now.

Geelong and Sydney are football factories too.

Get 2 of:

  • Yze
  • McVeigh
  • Caracella

And spread them between Head Coach and Forwards Coach / Ball movement.

Hell, get all 3 and put one as Development Manager.

gotta get someone with a bit of mongrel, look at recent GF coaches all got bit of mongrel, no nice guys there.
Feel sorry for Ratts a little as he is a nice guy from what I see, and that has hurt him in the end.
Caracella appears not to have the mongrel, shame as he appears to be great footy brain.
Wonder if Boris (Enright) opinion coming from Geelong prob didnt help Ratts in this review

Bit left field, but is Roughy ready and right person for HC, or he just one of Ratts men?

Roughy doesn't want to coach.

Hopefully the new coach doesn't ditch Enright, that would be madness!
Surely not, I think his opinions would of had a lot of weight in the review, Ratts going etc
But who knows

?

I feel this is right. I was really disappointed we did not have a seismic crack at Mitchell - he may not have been gettable but he is the "type" we need - driven, tough, no fear.
