Yeh, but he doesn’t deserve any of the scores and he’s not a good footballer :).
SC vs footy - hmmmm

We didn’t care when Ziebell then Hall killed it in SC last year

If anyone wants to know where Whitfield's points have gone, I did some further research

Perryman averaging 100, Cumming 98 - Perryman +6 on his best average, Cumming +6 on his best average

Whitfield averaging 80, so losing 12-15 points from these two alone. Playing the same position as he does, rebounding defender and kick out specialists.

No way is 3 defenders going 100 ish viable, with Ward coming off the back of the square also averaging 88.

Basically, Whitfield being the most flexible of all of them, to fit in the 27 midfielders they have he gets chucked in any of small defender/wing/half forward flank role or where the team needs him fit.

Unless Perryman moves forward (which I don't understand why he doesn't, he kicked 9 goals first 4 weeks of 2020) Whit may struggle to have huge games which I thought he may have some of to boost his average.

Slightly worried now.

Well how two months of footy has gone by and let's revisit this again.

Cumming averaging 106.5 SC, 25 possessions, 6 marks. 525m gained.

Perryman averaging 92.3 SC, 22 possessions, 5 marks. 336m gained.

Whitfield averaging 77.8 SC, 21 possessions, 6 marks. 360m gained. Lowest possession count since 2016. Was once the 2018 AA half back flank, in 2019 he went one better and averaged 29 possessions, albeit in less games but in both those seasons he averaged 100 and 111 SC per game. In 2019 they made the AFL granny. Both seasons averaged close to 500m gained. With the new kick out rules I'm sure he would've averaged over 600m gained per game.

Leon chose to remove all the flashiness, dare and creation from Whitfield and plug him on a forward flank hidden away, and chose to keep the booming kick of Cumming to do all his dirty work and Perryman.

If you can find any other example of a coach diminishing a superstars players role as much as Whitfield's I'd love to hear it because for me, it frankly makes zero sense.

Apart from owning lude pics of Leon in the nude, is there any reason why he's been forced to play this role and become a shadow of his former self? 11 touches today and not once did Leon think to get him in the game. Appalling.

Surely McVeigh wont continue to play Whitfield on a HFF. Worst positional move of the year. Seems incredibly obvious. Same with Coniglio to a HFF to a lesser degree.

So Zorko seems to have been booted from the backline with Coleman back in the team. Is this an accurate assessment?

Yeah sure is. Zorko playing a mid fwd role now, getting a few CBA’s. In the role where he averaged 108 last year. Only worry would be resting you’d think.

Holding Sicily, Hewett, Short, Cumming, Dawson I'm still torn for my final premo. Stewart is out of reach at the moment, plus his bye is a killer for me. Crisp, Docherty seem safe consensus choices and Zorko offers upside. Barring injuries All three seem okay.

Unrelated to my team IMO Lloyd and Whitfield are yesterday's men.

Lloyd is being overtaken by the younger generation with better, or more dynamic skills, and his one on one deficiencies are being exploited. Before his junk time 98 and the previous 116 where he dominated the kick-ins against an inaccurate opponent his 3 and 5 round averages in the 70's are telling.

Whitfield just seems to have lost his way - rarely shows his breakaway zip and his DE is poor. Cumming is now the kick-in king and was demanding, and receiving the ball, from team mates in general play on the weekend. Was a relatively poor game but he still scored acceptably, which cannot be said of Lachie. SC have fallen out of love with him and he just doesn't have the consistency any more. Can't see how positional change can improve his DE, given that he is highly unlikely to replace Cumming.

I have Stewart/Sicily/Hewett/Short/Whitfield/Daicos

I've had enough of Whitfield and will be replacing him with a premo.

Lots of options at similar prices - Cumming/Sinclair/Dawson/Zorko/Crisp/Dale

But I'm struggling to look past Doch. Any good reason not to take him?
He's been thru quite a taxing time, personally .....will his scoring slow down as the season progresses .....it seems a lot of Coach's maybe thinking this way ....only 19% ownership

BUT .....all the commandments of playing SuperCoach, have been broken this year ......so, go with your gut

I went Whitfield to Docherty after week 2 or 3 and have had no regrets.
