List Mgmt. 2022 draft pool.

I cant wait until lists are finalised so I can stop seeing people pining over Stack.
Although no doubt people will probably turn their attention to the mid season draft and then 2023 Delisted Free Agency.
It's going to be a never ending cycle.

We're all doomed.

I would re-draft RCD and Stack.
Stack yes purely because of upside.

RCD is kind of surplus to requirements now, very unlikely to be a factor in our midfield in 2023. Prefer we take a punt on a sliding tall, a genuine need.

Dont care who we draft to be honest , We got our Xmas presents early this year and he 2 picks + 3 rookies are just a free hit
Foster , Knobel , Verrall , Lemmy , Scully which ever player it is will be a gun the moment his name is called out

Personally hoping for Verrall & Foster

I would rather draft Will Ferrell than Will Verrall. Verrall would likely be a list clogger for 4 years and play 3 games.

We are more likely to draft two duds by the odds.
But so is everyone else. We have already got Taranto and Hopper. How many other teams would have two 150 game starting midfielders from this draft based on where we were originally drafting? Everything else is gravy and if we get another starter out of the draft we have smashed this years draft period out of the park.

Yes true but those picks in this years weak draft are a waste of time imo.
I would trade them for future picks if at all possible or retain players.

For mine I'd be wrapt with Foster and Phillips as it addresses the need for young KPP talent at either end of the ground, with Phillips being closer to a ready to go option.

Agree , people are ignoring what we could miss out on in 2023 but picking up unnecessary list cloggers for not one but two years.

Its highly competitive. We need everything in our favour to get who we want end of 2023.

It is ignorant to act like a charity when that is not our purpose

It is highly likely what is available in end of 2023 including in trades will be substantially better than what is possible in the back end of this draft, including others trying to leave other clubs which is very possible and you want the best cap space possible to do that and compete

Pheonix Foster (197cm 87kg) should be our target IMO.

11 games SANFL U/18s

Per game averages
13 disposals
4.3 marks
2.1 contested marks
2 frees against
0.7 frees for
2.3 goals
5.6 hitouts

Part of his write up on Draft Central

Foster's contested marking is his standout trait, which he uses to great effect both as a deep forward and as an option further up the ground. His size and athleticism make him a tough cover on the lead and he demonstrated an ability to consistently hit the scoreboard throughout his season in the SANFL Under 18 season.

Don't mind the sounds of Tom Scully either based on his stats at SANFL U18s

14 games

Per game averages
11.4 disposals
6.1 marks
2.7 contested marks
0.6 frees against
1.1 frees for

Part of his write up on Draft Central

He also averaged 2.8 contested marks per game, but tended to juggle them under opposition pressure or go to ground.

With a bit more meat on his bones and a touch of mongrel, reeling in those marks one-touch will become easier. Against his peers, Scully is good enough on the lead with handy mobility for a player his size, but has often leant on his reach advantage to compound his aerial impact, and thus scoring opportunities.
3.6 goals
No key forwards that are taken after pick 30 ever amount to anything. Someone name one? Better off taking someone like Ethan Phillips to replace Josh Gibcus in the backline.

Gibcus is elite in the air 75cm and 95cm standing and running leap and the ground level skills to clean up the rare ones he does not catch but most importantly he has the swagger to be a key forward

What you dont speak Magic?

Upgrade rookies, like Pickett and Miller, rather than taking hack draft picks this year, then fill the required spots from rookie draft because we only have to offer the one year.

This will help our list and salary posution flexibility in one years time

So we just take 2 players rated roughly 20 players further back to save a 1 year contract on a 18 year old that will most likely need 3 years to develop to a level before we even know what he will become.

Makes sense - Only to an idiot

Chris Grant pick 105 341 games 554 goals

Doesn't always happen but you can find quality KPF after pick 30, and we don't need the kid we draft to be an all time great, but if they can have a career somewhere along the lines of Tippett Jenkins Mooney Thompson or Brown we'd have ourselves a handy enough KPF especially with their early career alongside Lynch and then hopefully another KPF to come in as support in their second half of their career.

I'd go along with that.

At least potential cover for Tarrant if he drops off to

Fevola and Reid where not near pick 50. Nor was Tippet

This is a weaker draft and some of those guys like Grant and Lynch was when the draft was just starting and clubs still homing their analytical skills.

Both players shorter than the giraffes being identified here to

3 years to develop someone with a high likelihood of being a list clogger? Who is the idiot? Who loves to spin around circles and move from the critical path???

I mean would a public servant do that? Of course, but a business that is in a highly competitive environment, no

With your type of mindset, no wonder we traded for Nankervis
