Great write up.

I heard NM want to move pick 3 cause they are keen on Jefferson… hence the attempt to trade it for Clarke and pick 9

I think NM still split that pick 3 and take Jefferson in the top 10-12
Understandable from a North perspective but the problem is WCE took the picks they would have been looking at 8 and 12.

GWS 15 and 18 is out of range.
Sydney 14 and 17 is out of range.
Geelong won't give up 7.
WBD 11 and 21 is the most likely but Jefferson could be gone.
St Kilda may trade a future pick to go with 9?

2023 doesn't offer a lot of KPF's at this stage
Jed Walter GCS A
Archer Ried (Brother of Essendon's Zach)

Do like the sound of Jefferson and Humphrey but assume they will both beyond our reach unless we can trade up.

Anthony Munkara

Pull the trigger Derek

SNAPSHOT: “A widely skilled forward with immense talent and athleticism, capable of delivering X-factor in spades.”
One of the most prolifically talented prospects in this year’s draft pool is Anthony Munkara. The Tiwi Islands native plays with freedom and enjoyment, which rubs off on onlookers as he sets games alight with instinctual skill and a deep bag of tricks.
With senior NTFL experience under his belt, Munkara has most often been sighted tearing up South Australian college football with Westminster, but also linked up with West Adelaide for a couple SANFL Under 18 outings this year.
The leading Northern Territory talent and Essendon Next Generation Academy member also donned Australian colours as part of this year’s AFL Academy, and continued his representative experience with the Allies.
While he may not have the same amount of high-level exposure or experience as other players in his range, there is little doubting Munkara’s ability as one of the crop’s most promising forwards.

Think the Dons would be hoping to rookie him if there picks are used on FS

The ideal pick ups for Collingwood would be:

Pick 16 - Hayes

Pick 25 - Keeler

Pick 27 - Lemmey

Similar to what Carlton did in 2015 with Weitering, McKay and Curnow. That's the spine sorted for the next the 10 years.

That’s a like catching a unicorn though.
It’s hard to think back to anyone else recently nailing their spine in 1 draft.

I love that we got Hill but I hope we go 2 talls (preferably with the first pick) and a Shai Bolton type that can play the Fly Way.

They can definitely use one of their picks if they rate him there.
It seems all Adelaide do is take speculative talls as of late.
They traded frampton because he was surplus and switched to defender under them because there tall forwards are full.
I think they top up the midfield. Sloane is cooked laird is small and Crouch is probably a Magery Medal fancy... then keays.

To be a fly on the wall of Mackie and the recruiting stuff room if they miss out on Clark lol
I think GC could be gun shy on Clark given what happened with the Henry/Bruhn, but I reckon Hawthorn would back themselves in to take him, and it would certainly be fun for them given their hatred of Geelong already.

Like some have said, the crows may take Keeler
You’d think that the Crows would have more pressing needs with their first pick, especially given they already have a gun fwd/ruck developing anyway.

Too similar to Newcombe and Worpel for Hawks?

Worpel is crap, no way they overlook a supposed Joel Selwood clone in favour of him. Averaged under 16 disposals and less than 3 clearances this year. If he keeps that up he’ll be delisted at the end of his contract.

He's been a really interesting career to vaguely follow. Just keeps on regressing

Personally I think we go best available at 16. Then hopefully we use 25 and/or 27 to take swings at key forward targets.

I’ve still got this feeling Lemmey will go second round. Sure he had a shocking year, but recruiters would have been tracking him for multiple years, and know the talent he still has.

Pick 16 - Keeler or Hayes.

Pick 25 - D’Aloia, Kobe Ryan, Mitch Alphabet, Charlie Clarke, Lachie Cowan or Darcy Jones.

Pick 27 - Lemmey.

Draft Done!
Good point. For some reason, I overlooked Keeler. In addition, Hayes would be a useful selection in relation to a possible key defender. In that context, I would also strongly consider Busslinger but I am pretty sure that he will be gone before our 1st selection. Anyway, now I will start scrutinising of the potential mid-fielders.

Jhye Clark looks like a Tay Adams clone more than Joel Selwood.
I would not want him if we had a top 10 pick

Queenscliff local...his Collingwood ties are as strong as Jezza Cameron's and Logan McDonald's....Cats have been courting him for years.

Oli Hotton is a clever player that could be good for us,

I know Hottons stocks have risen, but if we were leaning towards that kind of player I prefer Charlie Clarke.

He just has a unique combo of skill and effort. Being both damaging offensively and defensively.

He actually reminds me a lot of Jamie Elliott in the way he plays. Particuarly as a fwd/mid. Would be an awesome replacement in a couple of years.

Yeah, he was pretty impressive in the champs. I think i just like Hotton's class and finishing, seems like a more damaging player, but Clarke seems pretty well rounded. His tackling and competitiveness does remind me of Jamie for sure.

I've only read his profile but Keeler is a little bit undersized for ruck at AFL level (198cm) isn't he? Similar to Begg too maybe more a fwd than ruck? Looking at the images of him on line though he looks like a young Paddy Ryder!

He could definitely be someone we look at based on GW's comments on the website last night. Acknowledged we had lost ruck depth with Grundy going out and taking a ruck in the ND or over summer in the SSP may be an option.
still might have some growth in him still and get to 200-202

lot will depend on where the club ranks macrae, reef, Carmy as mids and dean as a defender. If they really rate them you’d hope we atleast get one developing KPF because we have none. I’d assume best available at 16 and then hoping someone like keeler.

WHY? Who do you prefer?
Trade Radio interviewed a few recruiters this week. They expressed their disappointment about this years talls e.g. Lemmey. Felt that last year may have been a false positive as the talls last year were more physically developed than the defenders and also benefited from the anti congestion rule. But this year struggled bigger bods and body on body contact. From top 3-5 last year to >20 this year. Does that suggest a bargain or buyer beware?

Thanks - But why are you so strident in dismissing Lemmey per your earlier post?
