Absolutely. Was predicted to go very early.

At least top 10 from memory, maybe even higher.

The reverse is also true though as well ie Cripps and Oliver.
Grundy was regarded as top 3 at one point.

Just bigger than all the other kids, not better.

Again he looked to be a lot more than that last year.

Watches these videos from this year and they're not exactly bad viewing either, although he is a full head taller than most of his opponents:

Seems like a pretty steep fall from where he was last year and he's still shown a bit in games this year, although perhaps not at SANFL level which is what everyone expects now (ie. 17 year olds getting it done in state league seniors competition).

Mate your not convincing me that Jefferson is a better prospect than Lemmey.

Might be stupid blind faith. But it’s just my view.
Don't have to convince you, it's just a fact, they're not even in the same stratosphere as prospects, your blind faith is just bad judgement.

He’s still worth a shot late for teams late in the national draft IMO. But if he didn’t we should definitely consider him as a rookie.

Along with a couple of other young rucks like Nick Madden (who despite his many detractors could become a Sean Darcy/Shane Mumford type, who Fly would love), Max Knobel, and Jackson Broadbent (a massive slider this year)

What the * have they been feeding Madden? 204cms and 112kgs at 18?!

Not 100%. But he looks to be of islander descent.

His size and lack of athleticism has lead to him being significantly downplayed. However I quite like how he appears to throw his weight around. He’s also particularly good for his height with the follow up and in close in the contest via hands.

I really see Sean Darcy and Mumford similarities.

Yeah, at that size endurance is most important. If he can get to the level where getting from contest to contest is manageable, then he could be good. Haven't seen any footage of him, but I like the idea of a mammoth.

It would be a smart move by us to make a bid on Alwyn Davey Jr at pick 16 wouldn't it?

Essendon would certainly match with their pick 22 you sense and it would mean an additional player would still be on the table when it came to our pick 25.

This could also lead them to potentially offering up their future 2nd for our pick 27 (after 22 their next selection isn't until 54) should we wish to only use two live selections.

Could prove to be a smart move. Means that after they match they have enough points for another pick inside 30

Why not try swap pick 27 and 51 for their pick 22.

Then trade pick 25 for their future second once they match.

Better outcome for both parties.

Adam Goodes
Brodie Grundy
Jack darling
Jack riewoldt
Tom Mitchell
Jack ginnivan
Mitchell was a father son pick at a time they went later, he was seen as top 5 and would have gone top 5 if he wasn’t a father son

Was rated by knightmare as top ten early… couldn’t help throwing him in 😁
And KM had SA's Tom Scully at 2 this year not to mention rating Bailey Rogers for years despite the fact he's very ordinary, turned his attention to Casey Voss now who is meh! These guys aren't AFL standard.

  • Goodes fell so low because back at that time clubs were only allowed to draft one 17 year-old per draft.
  • Darling IIRC had off field issues which caused him to fall
  • Grundy was seen as a likely top-five selection right throughout his draft season and even before then, having performed at under-18 level as a bottom-
ager the previous year. "You have to look at the rucks in a draft completely different to anyone else. They can generally only play one position, and If
you don't quite need one then you won't take one," the scout said (cut and pasted from AFL website at the time)

COLLINGWOOD

Draft picks: 16, 25, 27, 51

List needs: Key forward, key defender, ruckman

Who could be available at first pick: Matthew Jefferson, Lewis Hayes, Olli Hotton, Ollie Hollands

Who’s in the mix after that: Brayden George, Isaac Keeler, Harry Barnett, Charlie Clarke

The Magpies addressed many of their immediate list needs through the trade period, adding Tom Mitchell, Dan McStay, Billy Frampton and Bobby Hill. This draft will be about looking to the future, with a lot of key senior players including Scott Pendlebury (34), Jeremy Howe (32), Steele Sidebottom (31), Mason Cox (31), Jamie Elliott (30), Brody Mihocek (29) and Taylor Adams (29) not getting any younger. Tall forward Matthew Jefferson would be handy if he slips down the order more than expected, while Lewis Hayes could also appeal as a key defender. South Australian key forward Isaac Keeler could come into the frame in the second round, as could ruckman Harry Barnett.

Latest word: The Pies have indicated they might look for a ruckman through the draft or over summer for back-up as they look to a future which now doesn’t include Brodie Grundy.

I went through the rules of NGA eligibility, and PMBangers was correct. You need to be invited to the national or state combine to be eligible in the NGA rules for said club.
Which makes only Yuyu Ashwin eligible if we want him.

Matthew Jefferson, Lewis Hayes, Olli Hotton, Ollie Hollands

Out of that, Jefferson and Hayes are the two that are frequently raised, if available.

Brayden George, Isaac Keeler, Harry Barnett, Charlie Clarke

Barnett seems more likely than Keeler, who could slide a lot further than Pick 25 or 27.
