Wow, this is really important to you. I hope he becomes a big strong 195cm unit. We should probably revisit this in 3 years, not 3 weeks
There's a chance he might gain a few centimetres, too.

Few key forwards in the modern game have starred at 18. Will at least two years, maybe even longer.

He's not a third tall either. Stupid suggestion that he is
I think the whole third tall forward distinction is well past it's used by date. Teams are no longer able to isolate their forwards enough for it to be a relevant distinction. Even guys like Ginnivan and Papley are expected to hit up on the lead or compete in a one on one marking contest when the occasion arises as well as contributing their ground level game. The question is whether he can compete in a pack and play as a proper tall. If he can't, he'll need to run big kms up and back and offer a variety of ways to get the footy, including a quality ground level game.

I think Carl just refuses to see where i'm coming from, I really like Jefferson

Some other late picks / rookie players I’d consider:

- Caleb Lewis: 196cm Key defender. Overage.

- Max Knobel: 206cm ruckman. Long term project.

- Harry Rowston: 182cm midfield / forward. GWS academy.

- Phoenix Foster: 197cm Ruck / Forward.

- Darcy Jones: 175 cm small forward. Broke the agility test record.

- Blake Drury: 176cm small forward / midfielder. The football loves him.

I think both Drury and Jones (despite their size) will be a fair chance to go in the ND.

Although it will be interesting to see how many picks will actually be taken.

This talk of clubs taking the lowest number of picks ever (or close to), may mean a few interesting players spill over to the Rookie and Pre season drafts.

I was realy hoping for James Van Es as an old fashioned negating fullback but he has done too well at testing and I don't think he will last to the rookie draft.

The bolded distinguishes the difference between a proper tall and third tall perfectly.

How good of a ruck prospect does this Barnett look like becoming? Could he be called upon God forbid if Cox and Cameron got injured? Yeah I know McStay and Frampton can ruck also.
He's going to need a few pre seasons at McDonalds before he will play. I hope we don't go down the ruck path again with a pick in the top 30

It's just not sinking in is it, why can't Jefferson play like a Harry Jones? This desire of yours that he has to turn into Tom Hawkins to be worth anything is bordering on the pathological, that's much more important to you and ill-informed.
Stop making shit up as you go along. I didn't say he had to be like hawkins. I said he will never be like hawkins. Don't tell me i'm ill informed, those that know me know that not to be the case. Instead of insulting everyone, get your facts right before going off like a dickhead to everyone that doesn't agree with you. I go to more VFL and under 18 games than the AFL, I cancelled my membership after the salary cap debacle. If you were around long enough instead of joining here and abusing everyone, then you would know that our supporters on here have been crying out for a big strong contested marking beast. I'm saying Jefferson isn't that. why are we comparing him to jones/, if you really claimed to be so knowlegable on talent, you know that he plays nothing like jones.

In terms of the comparison to Harry Jones, it’s fine (ish) with me (I just don’t think Harry Jones is very good)

This circular conversation about Jefferson is a bit mind numbing though.

I don’t even know why it’s become a point of contention, given IMO he’s a 90%, or more, chance of being off the board prior to our pick.

Personally I’d rather talk about prospects likely to be available.

Don't need to make anything up, you rate Keeler and Lemmey as better players than Jefferson who according to you is a second rounder any other year. Now listen to you backing the truck up, if you don't like looking in a mirror that's your problem. You guys always get abusive when your mistakes are exposed and fyi Cal Twomey compared him to Harry Jones, having watched him play I can see the resemblance.
Give it a rest, your really sounding like a sook and stop putting words in my mouth. where did I say I rate Keeler and Lemmey higher/, the only reason I mentioned them is because they are more likely to be at our picks. seems you get all your info from reporters rather than the eye or even a talent scout or two. Tell me again how you think he'll become the big hulking forward we are after, lol

that's why i was talking up Keeler and Lemmey, because they were more likely to be around at our pick. it's Carl's fantasy world that he's trying to justify something that is irrelevant

I dont think I'm going to read draft stuff again. Weren't we going to tank to finish bottom two to get one of Lemmey or Keeler?

Imagine that at the start of the year. Collingwood are going to be top 4 and might have the chance to recruit both Keeler and Lemmey. We would have gone into orgasmic raptures.

What happened to that Scully kid everyone was frothing over earlier in the year?
Was overlooked for most of the champs, played 1 game and didn't do well. After that played U18 for West Adel, but did manage to play some reserves games for the club which is a step forward in competeting with bigger bodies.
