Agree. We have some big holes to fill and key forward is number 1. We have one Hawkins or Cameron type and we win last night.
Having said that, a key stopper like Roughie plays and we prob win anyway.

Yeah, but if Roughie and Dunn have shown us anything… a key position stopper can be picked up for a packet of chips if you are smart about pillaging opposition lists.

Collingwood NSW scholarship prospect Elijah Edwards… poor kid just never grew over 165cm.

There was some footage somewhere at the time. The kid was electric ⚡

We need a where are they now thread

I agree it’s still an area of concern.

But not as much as our lack of any quality key forward prospects.

IMO our focus, in order, should be:

1. Key forward
2. Key back
3. Inside midfielder
A lot are saying Key back. let's not forget we may have gotten a steal in Dean.. and his only 22 or somthing

I’m all in for a KPD as our first pick or trade option after last night.

Rough is near the end and whilst I like Dean he’s unproven at this stage. We need another.

you can get them so cheaply through trade why sacrifice a top pick on one especially with the dearth of quality star kpf talks on our list for near a decade?
Dunn
Roughead
Howe
All reasonable trade costs.

Agree. I think KPD can be found relatively easy through money all trading/drafting. I’d prefer higher picks go on KPF or mids.

Kind of why I said ‘or trade option’.

I’ve said following in this thread or another one that we can’t neglect key forward and it should be one over 195cm but one that has some aggression to them.

Why I think the focus should be key back is I have some confidence in Checkers and Kreuger in particular and we’ve shown an ability to kick 100 points per game. What we haven’t shown is an ability to close down key forwards and Howe and Roughead are near the end, Kelly and Dean are unproven and Moore is more valuable to us if he’s attacking rather than locking down on a key forward.

Some more options

West Adelaide's Tom Scully 201cm - 6 goals on the weekend

Agree, and if the KPF doesn't cut it in the forward line you've got an instant option for the backline - very rarely does it end up the other way around (apologies Ms Mihochek, your son's a wonderful exemption to that rule).

The top-line KPD's who can really clunk their intercepts don't come cheaply or easily and are really important. It's the role player ones you can get cheaply.

Aaron Naughton is probably another example.
