This is From the AFL website. And heard him ref selwood in more detail on a podcast at the time. Reckon it was also a nod to the fact that we wouldāve taken selwood if not selected before Ben Reid, and wouldāve been proven rightā¦Do you have a reference for this? I followed that draft really closely and remember no such comment.
Yeah, really closely. Thanks for that, the first dig was unnecessary, because it was a legitimate question I was asking and there was no malice in the post. Looks like he was just referencing Joel Selwood as an example of a player with an injury cloud, rather than specifically knee issues, which makes more sense.Really closely? Adelaide swapping pick 23 to North could also free up one of the SA boys we are interested in in the late 20āsā¦I really love watching strong marking key position forwards mark.
Checkers is the best weāve had since Cloke.
I really hope we add a couple.
I know theyāre not as fashionable, but itās what the crowds love to see.
So Iām still hoping we go for Keeler and Lemmey in that order. (Although I do like the sound of Hayes & Barnet) And I admit that I know little about prospects compared to many here.
Iām not into anymore risks on NQR afflicted players; Scharenberg and Stevo killed that for me.
And a good midget is not as good as a good medium sized player. So Iām dubious on any player under 180cms.
But god bless Jamie Elliott.
Derek Hine, Alan Shepherd and Geoff Brown will all be at Club42 in a couple of weeks.
Be interesting to hear what they share.
But I wonāt be able to tell you here.

Toby greene is only 182cm FWIW. Ollie doesnāt need to be the benchmark. Diff playersAt 189cm Ollie Henry was undersized as a FWD and George is only 186cm.
So what X factor above and beyond Ollie, does he have to suggest heāll make it despite lacking height.

I think we might be hoping to take that WA ruck who's rated quite highly in the draft. If we take him, go with 4 players in the draft. If we don't take him, 3 in the draft and go with an SSP ruck and upgrade a rookie.
Shaz was clearly one of the best prospects of his class. He was injured but had the talent to make it. Freeman was another bust and we were burned by his off-field performance. Weirdly, we could recruit him back to the club, although he seems content as a player manager these days. This is From the AFL website. No idea about that. If true, we might be looking at a definite 4 in the draft, unless their real reason for moving Murley isnt to create a list spot, but is the hope that someone rookies him before we do, in which case they may promote another rookie.I don't think we can do that either - rookie upgrades need to be submitted by final list lodgement prior to the ND don't they?

I don't see any Victorian KP defenders listed in the top 30 except for Hayes. There are plenty of tall Defenders in SA who are just as average as the tall defenders in Victoria or any other state for that matter, so your point is really pretty averageSo true, how many people got uber excited when a Scully or Keeler kicked a bag in the Sanfl u18's and it's up against the poor old 5'8 kid playing fullback for Central Districts.
I think Dekkas criteria just needed a bit of a tweak - too many skinny agile talls taken late and too many one paced smalls and mediums taken in the middle section of the draft. Fingers crossed that we've adjusted the criteriaFor the first time in almost 30yrs+ of the draft I have full faith in the people running our football department.
From the point of what theyāve done since coming in over these past 2yrs and last seasons efforts.
I can unequivocally say that I trust the decisions they will be making in this years draft. Just as I have trusted the calls they have made on certain players. The delistings this year. And more importantly the inclusions brought in.
They have demonstrated that they are only interested in succeeding. And Iām certain that they will be working with Hine in directing the type of players needed by our coaching team to achieve their goals. Whomever they choose, will be best available in accordance with the directives from the coaching team.
It feels really good not to have to worry about this. Now I am fully aware that mistakes can be made. However, after experiencing the changes from this seasons efforts. I at least know we are on the correct path.
I suspect a midfielder, a KPD and a Ruckman are on the cards. But hey what the f$&@k do I know. Iāll leave it in Flyās hands and enjoy the ride.

Yep, I appreciate that they no longer are a token draft pick to elevate, but back when there was an actual distinction regarding playing eligibility - between rookie and main list player - they used to sometimes upgrade someone from rookie to main list in the preseason - it's whether that is still possible.Pretty sure it's been the case since 2015 or 2016 - rookie elevations just need to be submitted to AFL pre-draft and they're not included in the actual draft.
Like Toby, George is a top ten talent amongst hundreds of draft hopefuls, so isnāt he an exception as wellā¦Toby is the exception not the rule.
