Playing with Ben Reid. Pretty sure we’d have the inside mail.
who speaks of him highly.

“Really good player,’’ Reid said.

“Plenty of speed, a really good runner, uses the ball well on both feet and a really good mark for his size too.

“He’s got all the talent in the world.

“It won’t be a surprise to me if he ends up somewhere else down the track, just because of all the weapons he has. To me he fits the bill as an AFL footballer. I think if he got the chance … he’s definitely worth taking a punt on.

“He’s got all the tools you see at the top level. And one of the biggest tools he’s got is he loves training and doing all the work. That’s the battle sometimes. He’s one of those kids who doesn’t miss training sessions, pre-season and during the year.’’

Reid says Richards is also “as courageous as they come’’.

We had to make it a PR opportunity, otherwise we would have fully disintegrated. At least we were able to sell "drafting the future".

Macrae and McInnes probably won't feature a lot in the best 23 but should aim for 3-5 games each.

We turned over a lot of senior players so had to make the best (highest possible draft selections) of the replacements we could bring in. Doubt the club gave a rats about the optics. Even once they were at the club, every player got the same fanfare as players taken in drafts in other years.

Shifter has Lewis Hayes at 199cm now.

Lewis Hayes
State: Victoria Metro
State League Club: Eastern Ranges
Community Club: South Belgrave
Date of Birth: 17/12/04; Height: 199cm; Weight: 82kg

Tall and agile defender who makes great decisions on when to mark or spoil. Is also neat with his ball use on the way out of defence. Averaged 17 disposals (91% efficiency), six marks and five rebound 50s to be an important cog in Victoria Metro’s Championships-winning team, earning All-Australian honours. Had an outstanding NAB League campaign with the Eastern Ranges, averaging 21 disposals and five marks. Studied at the Rowville Sports Academy and is the brother of Port Adelaide’s Sam Hayes. His 2.99 seconds in the 20m sprint at the Draft Combine showcased his speed.

Please and thank you.
Given we dont have any young KPD his height (Dean 195cm, Kelly 194/195). I think we should use our first pick on him.

I was merely stating that we had a pretty good example of a tallish goal kicking forward on our list already.

Still do with Johnson seemingly more suited to that role and even McInnes showing he’s more than adapt as a 3rd tall type. Even JDG and Carmichael will continue to get F50 rotations.

Would be good, and interesting because both McStay, Mihocek, Dean & Kelly have swingman experience and/or potential.

They do, but as a pure defender over 196cm for us is a rarity lol

Of course there is frampton.

Forgot Frampton at 201cm

He is right in our sights at 16 and we have plenty of interest in him. I think we'll take him first then Lemmey with our second

Yeah, Hayes wont last til our 2nd pick, many draft watchers expect us to go with him. Given the key forwards have dropped out of the first roumd, we can select one with our 2nd whether its Lemmey or Keeler. Barnett with the other if available. Or George.

So Hayes 199cm KPD, Lemmey 200cm KPF/Keeler 198cm KPF and Barnett 202cm Ruck.

That doesn't sound like a Collingwood draft. Where are the short people?

We'll make up for that with 175cm richards

My perfect draft would be Hayes, Keeler/Lemmey, Barnett and Magor

I can't see us taking 4 picks at the draft.

Noble needs to be upgraded.

I'm guessing 2 plus Noble or 3 plus Noble depending upon who is available at Pick 27.
I hope we take 4 picks, I would like Jaydon Magor with our 4th pick and richards on the Rookie list

Believe it was reported we will take 3 picks. Not counting Noble.

would need to promote someone like like Ginni, ahead of time to gain another rookie spot.

Yes (assuming we rookie Murley & upgrade Noble) we have 4 list spots open (All senior list spots).
Our new rookie list would be Ginni, Murley, AJ, Begg, Dean & JC (Wilson Cat B).
As you say…to add another rookie, we need to upgrade Ginni also.
Only then can we add 3 senior & 1 rookie, otherwise it must be 4 senior list additions.

McInnes shown that he's 'more than adept'? I don't think we have seen enough of him to determine his worth up forward. I was a big fan of Johnson till the preliminary final when he did not fire a shot. He needs to reprove himself next year. He is certainly more suited to a CHF role than Henry, but I suspect Henry will eventually be the more damaging player, though not as a key forward.

Wasn't that before they delisted Madgen and Poulter who they were fence sitting on.
Had already factored that in.
Technically we only had 2 list spots open…now we have 4 (with Madge & Poulter departure).
The Murley situation doesn’t really impact our overall list numbers position (just changes the mix between senior & rookies).
We are still restricted to 42 list positions (mixture senior/rookie).

The highlights of Barnett indicate he can take a mark and play a little bit forward. I would think he’d be high on our list as a longer term replacement for Cameron and Cox as Ruck/forwards.

Hayes as a KPD, Barnett and a slider/best available or Lemmey would be a reasonable return I think.

Hayes, Keeler/Lemmey and Barnett? Ok who is picking instead of Hine
Our list profile says that we don't require any more midfielders or flankers. I'm confident that GW will take Hayes at 16 if he's there and probably Lemmey at 25 and Barnett at 27. If Hayes isn't there at 16 then we might take midfielder like Ed Allen who is 194cm and the fastest at the combine. But I share your sentiment about Hine, his sphincter would pulsating with every tall we take
