I’m well aware of who the two boys are.

I’ve watched a heap of Richardson all year.

I don’t remember watching McDonald in a single Lions academy team this year, and when he was picked for the U17 game, I asked “who?”.

As I mentioned in my previous post, there will be 3 or 4 Gold Coast academy kids, and at least one each from Sydney’s and GWS’s academy picked before a Lions kid at next year’s draft.

Save your whinge for the 2024 draft. That draft will be the most compromised ever with the amount of father-son and academy kid’s already showing for it.

Especially with the number of kids in the Gold Coast academy who have family links to Melbourne and other clubs.
There was an article I read at the time of the NAB game that referred to two highly regarded Brisbane Academy players. I'll trust in your superior knowledge as obviously you'd know more about your future players than I would by simply quoting an article. But what you've just posted also makes the point I was making in a different way. Gold Coast have 9 picks for next years draft but only one in the first round and two in the second. They have three highly rated players and one more academy prospect that will require a later bid. If they also have a heap of talented prospects in the 2024 draft from their Academies then the AFL needs to look at getting a better balance of fairness for the competition and developing football in the non traditional football states.

Yeah I understood what he meant, all I am saying is that I wouldn’t be giving up that early a pick regardless in a stronger draft. you are essentially saying this years 13 i.e where you ranked the player to take at 19, is better than next years 13 and that could be right but more likely not.
Not sure your deal works for me. under that scenario we have 6,19,24,31,48,50, 52,65 so expect we clear 48,50,52 for lions 36 which comes into 34 so end up with 6,19,24,31,34 with 65 (vickery / Lawrence). But that means 2023 is 6,30,71. If it was 19 for our f2 plus 1-2 later picks for their academy picks and left enough to get 36(34) from lions then I’m more interested. Would then be something like 6,19,24,34,48,65 and 6,30,44,71
Next year. Keen to hold a 40s pick which comes in about 5 spots as think someone slides like a D’aloia or lemmey that would be a nice addition.
We have Will McCabe coming through next yr, our F2 and F3 are likely to be goneski there.

Ideally our F2(WB) will get trade for Dons 22 as well.

But thats a year away and assumes we take the picks to the draft lots of water to go under the bridge before then.
Indeed, but if the multiple players we want is available at 19/21, it is best to draft now(alongwith our pick 24 & maybe pick 22 of dons) and let him to grow in the system. And fine use of F2 when there is high chances of we trade that out to 2024 if McCabe trends to 1st round pick(hopefully after our 1st)

We won't go small with our second pick.
How much choice do you think you will have at 58? Or is your second pick #7 after Gold Coast trade you pick 5 for a seminar series entitled “how to build a successful club near water”?

There's plenty of choice.

Think you just take him at 4
I think we are looking to trade down somehow we can take 4 22 Davey Davey munkara

Not sure what happens to be honest

We can only take 4 of the 5 now unless Munkara goes undrafted. This is due to Tippa staying on
Surely you will just move 22 to next year.

Hawks would give you the dogs future 2 and some late picks this year for matching the bids.

Giving you Poo, X2 Davey and munkara plus a F2

Id say we will have someone lined up as the backup for an F2

Personally id be seeing what i can do with 4 and 22 before that as plan A. Then plan B seeing if 22 comes before a Davey bid

4 and 22 to cats for 7 and F1 potentially requires an exemption

4+22 for Dogs 11, F1 and future pick ~15(Tied Brisbane)

4 and 22 for Norths pick 3

Im not sure if any of them are close enough in the ball park and obviousily requires those clubs to really like someone earlier

You will have plenty of options with 22. You should be able to get the fs boys and academy boys if you want all of them.

Phillipou is one of few I’d consider good value at Pick 5.

Meets Essendon’s needs, just seems like a no brainer IMO.
It's Essendon no such thing as a no brainer

Dogs are probably not going to trade up unless it's for 22. 39 + f2 for 22. Covers the Davey bid and wipes dogs from grabbing Munkura.
Your F2 is tied to Lions.. so that is like 35+39 for 22

Dons have not taken the North offer of 40+43 for 22 yet. Or your F2(+ a late pick) that we have.
