What way do you see the draft falling for that to happen?
It’s not inconceivable one of the gun midfielders gets to the Bulldogs

1. GWS - Cadman
2. Bris - Ashcroft
3. NM - Sheezel
4. NM - Wardlaw
5. Ess - Tsatas
6. GC - Ginbey
7. Hawks - Mackenzie
8. Geelong - Busslinger
9. Eagles - Clark
10. Saints - Humphrey
11. Carlton - Hollands
12. WB - Phillipou

Not my draft ^, but a possible combination I’ve drawn up

Carlton would take Phillipou over Hollands if he was still available.

I see Phillipou sliding to 14 and the Dogs pouncing

1. Cadman.
2. Ashcroft
3. Sheezel
4. Wardlaw
5. Tsatas
6. Ginbey
7. Humphrey
8. Busslinger
9. Clark
10. McKenzie
11. Hollands
12. Phillipou

He has character issues. Red flags for some clubs.

you don't know this. you're not in the inner sanctum. You're not privy to the in-house discussions of the carlton recruiting team or the psych testing of Phillipou or anything really.
Jesus did I strike a nerve or something? All I said was that if I was Carlton we'd take Phillipou over Hollands.

And for the record, I have it on good authority that internally Carlton rates Phillipou very highly. You don't know me at all, Dan.

It's 4 plus 22 and then a team like the saints surely get some bounce and finish bottom top 8 even top 6

Gets them Mackenzie plus someone at 22
There is no mock draft showing Mackenzie going in the top 6 and he doesn't seem to be rated highly enough to warrant a pick exchange like your suggestion. It also seems like Geelong and West Coast would be highly unlikely to select him according to all the draft reports. West Coast seems to have targeted their pick 8 (that will be taken at 9) for Gibney and Geelong look more likely to draft Busslinger due to their need for a young key defender or Clark who is a hometown boy. If St Kilda did rate him due to their inside knowledge they would be way better off dealing with Gold Coast and trading pick 9 and a future second rounder (perhaps with pick 47 in the 2023 draft thrown in for pick 5 and a future third or fourth rounder coming back as Gold Coast have a ton of 3rd and 4th rounders they traded in this year to match points for 3 GC Academy players but were seeking more second rounders or they'll have massive issues with creating so many list spots before the draft.

If GC doesn't see a player they rate as being a likely star who feels a list need then I wouldn't rule out Essendon trading their future first in exchange for the Gold Coast pick 5 and a future 3rd rounder. Essendon then use pick 22 for a future second and a later 2022 pick to give them enough trade capital for teams requiring points for bid matching to get back in 2023 first round as well.

Eagles are into Mackenzie (amongst others)

yeah I don't know you. So why would I believe that somehow you have such a good friendship with one of the head recruiters that you would then exploit that rship by posting on bigfooty about cartons intentions.

Bro chill, he’s just giving his opinion on a draft rumour thread, it’s really not anything to get worked up on. The fact that even Phillipou making it to pick 11 could be wide of the mark if he goes earlier in the order.
He never stated he had a good friendship with the head recruiters? It’s pretty normal to think that a player that’s been rated around the top 10-12 picks most of the year would be in contention for Carlton’s first round pick!

Where did I say that?

You are aware that certain information can be passed down from various places and by various people?

Hi there. Welcome to the 2022 draft rumours thread.

To get you started, let me remind you of the definition of a rumour:

An unofficial interesting story or piece of news that might be true or invented

Hope that clarifies where you are, the likely accuracy of things being posted in here, and the extent to which you are obliged to believe anything posted.

If it doesn't, perhaps this thread isn't for you.

true. but that wouldn't make it on 'good authority' though. moreso, just hearsay through about 5 sources.
I for one, agree, that Phillipou should be going ahead of Hollands. I don't think either has star potential though

Hotton has been a high first round/early second most of the year.

Clarke likely 2nd, but has had some talk about going in the first round most of the year.

Think only Cowan is the real bolter of those 3. Not sure I personally rate him a first round prospect but if a lot of clubs are now showing interest as an early 2nd that could dictate him going as a late first round selection.
I reckon Cowan fits in from pick 15 onwards , has barely played a poor game all year

Don’t mind the out of the square thinking re Geelong pick . Everyone presumes Clark but might not happen

Phillipou I can see going to Essendon or hawks at 5 or 7 … if not then I think saints

Theyd apply for an exemption

And would have a strong case being premiers, just trading in 2nd year first round players Henry and Bruhn aswell as a top pick this year if in this case for example...pick 4
The AFL didn’t allow Melbourne to trade a future later round pick last year, after they just won the flag, on the second night of the draft.

And Melbourne has more youth than Geelong on its list, and in its first team.

It was with the crows, apparently it was not allowed because we originally owned the pick we were trying to get, if that makes sense
