There would have to be real character issues for him to slide that far.

From a football POV I can’t see any flaws with his game.
Literally no flaws?

How many can you spot with Hewett?

Maybe still needs to fine tune his defensive game, which is par for the course with most elite junior footballers, but otherwise I’m struggling to find any major weaknesses.

His footy IQ is very, very good and he also has a decent athletic profile to go along with his capability as a footballer.

To me he is a Top 5 prospect in this draft.

Doesn’t seem like the kind of draft pool a premium prospect like Hewett will readily slide, but who knows?

Any club that gets him outside the Top 15 is getting a bargain.
I know of some talent scouts that wouldn't take him in the top 15.
BF opinion and the opinion of people one-step removed from clubland is often a fair way apart (hai David Gourdis)

Then again, there are a couple of players barely mentioned that some scouts actually like (noting scouts aren't recruiting staff, they just report to them)

Please Please... stop with the HUN phantom draft. Means absolutely sweet FA.
And again i will ask the question. What are these quires or are u just regurgitating what others might have said or alluded to?
That's just one example. Hardly take it to the bank, but at least suggests the possibility.
Poster on our board who gets very reliable information says there are some questions, and clubs are cautious. And that's not the first time I've heard that.

So you are saying they'd take him at Pick 16 then? LOL

All clubs would construct their orders based on areas of need and then add in the intangibles - their leadership, character, likelihood of sticking around etc.

Decent prospects would be marked off under those sets of criteria, especially if they specifically tell the club they’d prefer to stay in their home state. There’s been quite a few rumblings about Hewett advising clubs he’d rather stay in WA, which is a reasonable move given the Eagles have picks in his general range.

If I was a recruiter I’d be hesitant to pick up a player who was angling to stay home.

WOW... a possibility?? like me winning the Lotto possibility??
A grain of salt is the first image that comes into my head when i hear that type of tripe.
The teams who want to nab him later in the draft gain the most from letting these types of rumours get out.
Been happening in the states for ages, surprised its taken this long to hit our shores.
I wasn't claiming that they rumours are true, just that they exist, there are clubs that are cautious about him, and that there is a much better chance of him sliding out of the first round than you are giving credit for.

I mean I do agree, I think Hewett is an outstanding footballer and if he'd just played colts all year would've had a stat line rivalling Ashcroft, this is just what I've been told by people that know far more about these things than I do, and as we see every year all it takes is one club really liking a certain player, or a bunch of clubs only having one or two ahead of him at their selections to see someone bolt or slide 🤷‍♀️

Only have to look at Sonsie, Draper, Howes from last year as examples of players with talent that had clubs in the first round interested, but slid because things didn't line up (And didn't necessarily interview well)

Why are you so belligerent about Hewett?

It's easy to get attached to prospects in all fairness, for example, I've gone to great lengths to ensure Jacob Konstanty isn't faced with any criticism on this board

Hawthorn makes sense but their drafting last year indicates they prioritise footskills and work rate in their midfielders which would have Tsatas in an unfavourable spot,
I think you are spot on with this. I remember listening to Mitchell at a BH huddle and he was very direct with his players in relation to looking after the ball. Hawthorn will build a list around elite ball users IMO.

Whereas St Kilda, Lyon has been open about getting speed into the team and playing a little manic. I think this is where Tsatsas will end up.

I do wonder if Tassie kids may slide with the risk of a 19th licence and the lure of being part of the inaugural squad

I’ve said similar things about picking up Cowan.

There’s going to be a huge pull back to Tassie to play in their inaugural side.

If they get a license the AFL likely follow a similar blueprint to GWS and GC, gift them 10 first round picks and then allow them to sign as many Tasmanian prospects as possible and compensate the outgoing club using some contrived formula - which is basically what happens with FA anyway.

So effectively the player you’re picking up goes for the same pick you’ve taken them at.

I’d be steering clear of Tasmania prospects until Tassie are at least a couple of years into their tenure.
