Watch us not draft a West Australian yet again despite an abundance of players coming out of there this year
So if there’s a WA player around the mark, but we select a player who is better and not from WA then that proves your point?

Ok.

Ginbey is my last choice of the 6 realistic players we could select.

Unless we're getting a future first from a team likely to miss finals next year I'll be one unhappy camper trading back just to get him.

No. You've come up with that, as you always do - putting words in people's mouths.

The claim was that Collingwood do not rate the WA colts league, evidenced by our lack of selections taken from the league. It's strong evidence taken over a long period of time. Perhaps it is an extreme coincidence, but it's extremely unlikely. For a poster who loves to talk up the importance of evidence, you frequently baulk and sidestep when it's used back at you.

The only idea I’ve heard I like is the crows if they want the pou and are prepared to give their f1, norfs f2 and swap their f2 with our f3. Pick 6 lost but end up with our 2023 f1 and f2 plus crows f1, norfs/crows/dogs f2 would be amazing! Dare to dream

Beatson just said that he rates 7 players in this draft who he thinks are going to be top AFL players and the next group is another 10 players but after that the draft evens out for quite a while.
He can say that but they take a Chad Warner at pick 39 and he is a star. There is plenty of rookies and late draft picks that are premiership players and best and fairest winners. I’d like him to name the 17 even some of those won’t make it. While a few taken in the Sind & third rounds will be good players. It’s going to come down to character and how some handle the AFL environment. Talent only takes you so far.

No baulking or sidestepping here. I just don’t see our lack of selections as particularly compelling evidence, particularly given that the one player we have selected recently from WA was taken instead of the player that literally everyone who pays the slightest attention to the draft had as a lock to us at that point.
Just as we’ve recently taken a lot of SA boys, I don’t believe we place a higher priority or rating on that league, I think it’s just been a coincidence that the player available on our board at the time has happened to be a South Australian.
In a system as unpredictable as a draft, these kind of anomalies happen. In my opinion it’s fanciful to believe a club would place a lower emphasis on a particular states prospects in some misguided belief that the competition standard is lower.

Hey, we're not the GC.

Would take that deal especially if we could snag a pick in the 30s

A pick in the 30's is useless as it gets eaten up by the Davey bid that would be before it.

It's a terrible deal and Essendon would be mad to take it.

Potentially after woulds we could do it a trade back

Also 3 firsts including 2 in a great draft 13 could still get us a great player like Hewitt

Today episode of road to the draft. Can we watch the full episode anywhere? I realise it can be listened to but was more interested in watching. Send link if anyone can find it. TIA

Who do Melbourne pick? Is is tsatas? Do they think their midfield is too much alike or that Luke Dunstan is wasted as a reserve so they want him to play, plus another different type of midfielder ( assuming tsatas is different to the somewhat similar Oliver, petracca, Dunstan).
Or is it to play Petraccs forward to rescue their somewhat pedestrian forward line
95% it’s Phillipou, 5% chance it’s Humphrey.

It’s mostly attempting to get a gun rather than spreading the Jackson currency over 3 picks as it is currently.

But forward line impact by adding a mid/forward and allow Petracca to play forward more would be a consideration.

We need stars, not picks in the teens. History shows you need to be top 5-10 to get the stars, and then you might get lucky from then on. Hewett looks good, but clearly there is a reason he isn't considered in top echelon of players, which means he's far more speculative (granted all picks are speculative).

Having two F1 picks tied to teams that finished top 6 this year isn't that appealing.

Take our picks unless we can get a top 10 picks this year and a F1 pick tied to a team not likely to make Finals next year.

If we assume suns are taking Humphrey at 6 then if your trading up your after that player otherwise you could pay less for pick 7 and still potentially get your player
If GC ask for less then why be forced into a trade with hawks at the next pick. I am sure if hawks keep pick 6/7 and take Cmac, then Dees would be asking the same off Cats and then WC and then Saints. They would be reducing their offer slightly as they go down.

You know we could trade the two future firsts? We could trade up next year. WB scrapped into the 8 because Carlton choked and Freo just lost all their depth

Plus with Parish likely going we will get 2 top 10 picks very well 2 top 5 picks

4 picks inside 15 surely next year

13 could get us a star Hobbs last year, Powell/Chapman the year before, Will Day, Issac Quaynor

We need quality and quantity

5 top 15 picks in 2 years plus Davey x 2 Munkara

No we need top 5 quality, not quantity. If Parish leaves via FA and we get a top 5-10 pick for him next year then we have even less need for those picks in the teens.

You actually need to find someone who would want to do the trade and there is even less likelihood by the sounds of it that anyone would be willing to trade out of top 10 for potentially a couple of picks in the teens.
