"The belief last month was the Suns were leaning towards selecting Ginbey. But industry sources told foxfooty.com.au they believe the Suns’ interest in Ginbey had cooled in recent weeks, with Humphrey now viewed as the favourite."

With Essendon and Hawthorn jostling between Tsatas and Phillipou plus other clubs throwing offers at Essendon to try secure Phillipou its safe to say he wont be around at pick 10.....He's Bolted as they say

With whispers the Suns are now favoring Humphrey over Ginbey also its seems West coast will have 3 or 4 highly rated WA boys around that 8 to 12 range anyway to choose from or pull a big surprise and call Vic Metros Cam MacKenzie's name out. Would be a very regretful WC recruiter to overlook those WA kids if Cmac pulled an Adam Cerra on them in a couple years.

MacKenzie isnt as big a flight risk as Tsatas but he has hinted he would prefer to stay in Melbourne. Eagles would be taking a huge gamble IMO to select Cmac.

Lock it in Eddie

It's kinda nice the draft isn't really too much of a worry this year, however it falls it seems we'll get a bloody good player. If I was the Bombers I'd probably take the Pou, and can see the Hawks with Tsatas. For us realistically, I hope for CMac or the Pou.

There is most definitely still some intrigue regarding who we'll grab with our later picks, and I guess there's still the possibility of pick swaps. As has been mentioned above, depending on how the picks fall, could be great to live trade up and grab two of these top guys.

CMac AND the Pou. Now that would be something.

It will be very fun watching this bloke and Windy for the next 10 years with hopefully Owens coming along for the ride.

Quicker than I thought. Like.

Also decent kicks to advantage/space :thumbsu:

Feels like Wardlaw is the mystery man in this draft. Everyone has accepted the fact that he's going to North with pick 3 or 4, and he hasn't got anywhere near the media attention of the other mids in the draft. Is he really that much better than the other options to be such a certain lock?

Yes i know that but normally if a kid has been training at a club and is a NGA he would say something about his time at the saints like our other two lads did

The 18-year-old has spent time with the Saints in recent years and trained with the club for a week in May. But as club interest has grown in Mackenzie, and more recruiters have visited his house or chatted on Zoom, the Saints' hopes to get him as an NGA player have evaporated.

"The goal was just to get drafted. I thought St Kilda would be a good club to go to as it's so close and handy, but I'm not fussed. If I went there it would be awesome, if I didn't I'd still be super happy to go anywhere really," Mackenzie said.

As he has been through his life so far.

The perfect draft for me would be

Cam McKenzie (balanced midfielder)
Coby Burgiel (midfielder/forward)
Isaac Keeler (ruckman/key forward)
James Van Es (key defender)

Rookie draft -
Jackson Broadbent (ruckman)
Pheonix Foster (ruckman/key forward)

Cat B rookie:
Angus McLennan (medium defender)

Stocker as SSP (inside midfielder)

Yeah, looks like Clayton Oliver to me. I reckon he could be the superstar of this draft. He didn't get much attention because he was injured for a lot of the year.

He’s a star. Has an incredible tenacity around the ball. Havnt seen it since Matty Rowell. Just an absolute jet.

Rookie Me Central’s 2022 Mock AFL Draft

Michael Alvaro
PHANTOM DRAFTSNovember 23, 2022

Pick 10 (St Kilda) – Cameron Mackenzie
Midfielder | 187cm | 80kg | 21/01/2004

Though not through the bidding route, St Kilda ends up with its Next Generation Academy (NGA) product, Mackenzie in this hypothetical draft. It makes sense too, with the consistent accumulator already linked to and familiar with the Moorabbin-based side. With good size, speed and skills, he would be a handy addition for the Saints as one of the many midfielders likely to feature in this range.

Pick 30 (St Kilda) – Coby Burgiel
Midfielder | 183cm | 80kg | 09/09/2004

Justification:
A player who could be snapped up earlier, he adds a touch of speed to the Saints’ mid-forward rotation.

Pick 35 (St Kilda) – James Van Es
Key Defender | 196cm | 97cm | 07/08/2004

Justification:
Should offer strong key defensive stability in the long-term, and could be anything given his deceptive athleticism and one-on-one prowess.

Really like burgiel as a player. Love his run and carry with neat ball use. He sort of reminds me of cam Guthrie.

Don’t fall for that line. The Eagles will take best available for sure and back the lifestyle here to turn draftees into career players at the club.

I said it on another thread but Roughy flew into Busselton on Monday night which is Reuben Ginbey territory. I wonder if our list management team are expecting him to slide to us and just doing some final checks.

If either of McKenzie or Phillipou get through to us I’ll be elated.
And then we do a St.Kilda and don’t select either of them…opt for a hbf instead! 🙄

Apparently he's a hawthorn supporter too so probably would be happy to go there
