On the flipside, it will free up a lot of cap space, and pretty much everyone who’s looking for a new home wants to go to clubs in the top half of the ladder, so they’ll presumably just continue to do what they and Richmond did this year.

AFL equalisation measures just aren’t working any more. The rich get richer.

The poor get the picture.

The bombs never hit you when you’re down so low.

That I agree with. You don't want to drop off too much with the way footy is moving. A small club down the ladder won't be attractive. Geelong are a bad season off going from darlings of the footy world to on the nose though. Before 2016 the Tigers looked about as attractive as herpes and Melbourne would have had trouble attracting flies to their shit pile 5 years ago. We just have to get our shit together and become a well run club and get ourselves as attractive as possible.

The Saints are in the market for another earlier selection inside the top group, so could be active in pick swap discussions over the both nights. If they hold their picks where they are, their second pick will fall outside of the top-30. Darcy Jones has been looked at and plays a number of different positions, while the Saints have done their work on key forward Isaac Keeler. James Van Es as a key back could be around the mark of their second-round picks, as is the case with Max Gruzewski, and Lewis Hayes is a chance to be there too, while accumulating midfielder Jaxon Binns may also be a consideration. Goalkicker Jaiden Magor has attracted some attention and has an exciting skillset, while the Saints have nominated Next Generation Academy prospect Angus McLennan, who was overlooked last year but finished this season strongly with Sandringham after returning from injury. Archie Lovelock, a ball-winner from Glenelg, could be a rookie shot, with runner Caleb Mitchell also capturing some interest.

Jack Steele?
I would hardly have said he's strong overhead at all.

Don’t think I could disagree with that strongly enough. Has extremely strong and safe hands overhead. It’s why I’d love to see us be able to isolate him forward more.

The thing that needs to be remembered that makes things harder to predict is that clubs would not only be interviewing those they’re most interested in at the pick they’re currently at, but also guys they think would be in the mix say 2 or 3 picks further down, in case a club makes them an enticing trade offer on the night.

Reading the phantom from Cal is it just me or does he seem a little less confident on his predictions than usual?

I think that’s Essendon shutting up shop and not letting anything out. Could change a lot of club’s moves.

If we get Phillipou, we finally get some fig jam on this list.

Been missing since Rooey and Bj left.

Even if it is this drafts highest potential/bust player.
