"The focus going into the AFL Draft was to refresh our midfield group. Chad is a left-footer, he's really hard at the footy, he's got an upbeat personality and we really like his attack on the footy and his use of the ball. His ability to influence the contest is really impressive." (Sydney Swans General Manager - Recruiting and List Strategy Kinnear Beatson)
That ability to go above and beyond to do the 1%ers. Nailed him at pick 39.
Just quietly the most explosive breakaway player imo is Oli Hottin. Has that breakaway pace and strength. So good they got his kicking leg wrong.

Say we get Pick 7 from GC (in the Bowes trade) should we consider Mattaes Phillipou (SA gun mid/forward) who Port are likely to take with pick 8?

Doubt we take Humphrey. Can’t kick
I'd be very surprised if we didn't take him if that's how it fellDoubt we take Humphrey. Can’t kick
I used to think like this but when’s the last time you watched a finals game and thought “yeah it was their precision kicking that won them that final”? Contest and pressure wins finals and grand finals. As long as he’s consistently putting up good numbers I can live with crap kicking.Doubt we take Humphrey. Can’t kick
Yep very simmilar to Owens. I hope we take Hotton or Jefferson. If the above are unavilableDoubt we take Humphrey. Can’t kick

Fair pointSam Crocker was a great kick.
Brodie Murdoch was a great kick.
Leo Connolly is a great kick.
And everybody’s favourite Jack Billing’s is a great kick.
Where has all that got us?
The question with Bailey Humphrey is whether he’s a Dangerfield, Fyfe, Martin, Cripps, Owens type bad kick.
Or a Jayson Daniels type bad kick.
If it’s the latter then pass.
If it’s the former, then if everything else about him stacks up then you simply have to consider/take him.
Ironically, Owens is a good kick for goal, but kicks like a wood chopper around the ground. Humphrey seems the opposite.Yep very simmilar to Owens. I hope we take Hotton or Jefferson. If the above are unavilable
I’m coming around to the idea of Jefferson if all the good kids are gone. Maybe even Hewitt if the go home factor isn’t to highIf we do manage to pick up JDG somehow should we be looking at drafting busslinger over Mackenzie/Humphries?
And then bring in a KPF/ruckman via draft or trade.

We then would meet all areas of need.

Danger was the worst kick on the ground. 40% DE at some point. Still finished about best on groundI used to think like this but when’s the last time you watched a finals game and thought “yeah it was their precision kicking that won them that final”? being a good kick is worth nothing if you can’t get the ball. Getting lots of the ball but being a bad kick isn’t worth too much either.Sam Crocker was a great kick.

They are easy to findBeing

What we need is elite kicks who can get lots of their own ball.
Since it’s difficult maybe we should try and get two picks in the top 10 to really hedge our betsThey are easy to find
If he's flawed then we'll definitely pick Humphrey at our pick.Doubt we take Humphrey. Can’t kick
Yes both can be drafted on the cat b list againDo we have any NGA kids outside of McKenzie who we wont be able to bid on?
Do we have access to Beilby or McLennan seeing as they weren't drafted last year and played U18's again?
Thinking more as a Cat.B rookie spot than anything.
