List Mgmt. 2022 Draft Thread - Part I

No one ever said Hunter was anything other than an excellent kick. Unless you mean the idiots in here when he had a rough patch this season.
He did have a knock on his kicking under pressure

When playing midfield in his draft year he was going at about 55% from memory

Probably not that surprising when you see that 50% of his touches were contested though

Funnily enough, some fans don't think he has the ability to win contested footy...

McKenzie, Jefferson, Hollands, Binns, Ginbey, Hotton, and Busslinger all in.

No Phillipou, Humphrey, (other) Clark, Hustwaite, or Hewett.

… or Tsatas
Humphrey missed most of The champs with injury I think

Phillipou also had his injury issues. He's a gun though. Would love him at our pick

Apparently Zaine Cordy has meet with you guy’s my apologies I wouldn’t wish that for any club

Humphrey was very lucky to escape really serious injury.

Phillipou - injury effected carnival
Humphrey - played 1 game due to injury
Tstatas - played 1 game due to injury
Clarke - didn't kick many goals in comparison to those selected
Hustwaite - was good but not dominant
Hewett - played 1 good game

Don’t disagree with any of this… they usually manage to sneak the likes of Tsatas in anyway though, although one game may have just not been enough to justify it.

Hunter is most of the reason l got back in to footy, l followed him from u17's and he killed it in the all-star game. I was absolutely stoked he made it to us. But he doesn't like the gym ant that was obvious when he stood next to Coff on their first day video together. I'm happy with the setting from the club on this. He either stays and puts in the work or we cash in on whatever value he might have left. It's crunch time for the young fella.

Spaghetti hair, spaghetti arms. Hasn't changed much. Pull your finger out, Hunter! Hasn't got anywhere near his potential. Career will be over before he knows it. Hasn't reponded to cuddles, hopefully a rocket will work. I'm surprised that a guy who hasn't played much in the last two seasons isn't on the track more than anyone else. Some people want to get the best from themselves... almost a necessity in the AFL.

Yr - AvgDis - Clanger%
18 - 15.4 - 14.3
19 - 20.5 - 12.9
20 - 17.2 - 17.4
21 - 19.2 - 15.7
22 - 15.1 - 19.8

He’s actually said he doesn’t like the gym in a podcast a couple of years ago as well. He’s got all the talent in the world but I do think it’s holding him back a little but I’m sure one day he’ll realize that as a professional athlete the gym is pretty important. The dad bod must go.

People keep bringing up the gym but does anyone actually have an example of when the look of his body has actually gotten in the way of playing footy?

He’s a ripping footballer with all the talent in the world who’s had a serious unfortunate run with injury. I see no reason why he has to bulk up, he just needs a good run at it.

I'm hoping we get Humphry , Phillipou, or McKenzie, in that order, but it will depend who is still available.
I hope we don't get Jefferson as some commentators are suggesting...just because MIDS .

Someone like Noah Long, might make a good second round pick.

Where is James Van Es expected to go? Worth a shot?

If Tom Hawkins falls on the ball, Clark won't be able to snatch and jerk Tom above his head to soccer the ball forward to Max.

If we only have one top 10 pick then I think it's a lock that we take the best remaining mid available.

If we snag another then I think Jefferson or Busslinger will be very hard to pass up.

Fair chance all the best mids could be gone by our pick

I'd prefer to grab someone like Busslinger who looks a genuine top end talent than reach for mid

"It was actually pretty good:" Selwood's quirky end to grand final celebrations

Sandringham Dragons forward Harry Sheezel, a potential top-10 selection at November's National Draft, has spoken glowingly about a recent visit to St Kilda that included meeting a number of Saints stars.
Sheezel, who is currently completing his high school studies in the lead-up to draft season, has rocketed up draft rankings in past months and is making top-10 noise.
Sandringham Dragons coach Wayne Cripps recently spoke on AFL Trade Radio claiming Sheezel was closing the gap on favoured first overall pick, father-son prospect Will Ashcroft.
"I said from the start he'd start closing the gap on Will (Ashcroft) and I think he has," Cripps said.

"He has such x-factor, he's a match-winner. He's got some real bags of tricks as a forward.
"He's definitely a first-rounder."
The 17-year-old Sheezel grew up a Hawthorn supporter, like recent top Hawks draftee Josh Ward.
However, Moorabbin may well be where Sheezel wants to land if his recent comments are any indication.

The 184cm forward spoke on RSN on Tuesday, recounting a visit to Saints headquarters.
"[It] was an incredible experience, to be training and spending the whole day and seeing how they go about it, especially players like Jack Steele, Max King and Rowan Marshall, they were really good to me," Sheezel said.
"[They] offered me a lot of support and showed me, I guess, the way of an AFL footballer.
"I remember saying to Chris (Liberatore, NAB League Manager) at the end of the experience that 'I wish I could just stay', I liked it so much."
Pick 9 is currently St Kilda's earliest selection this year, and after hearing about Sheezel's joyful experience at Moorabbin, Saints list manager James Gallagher may be hoping the promising forward isn't taken too close to the top come November 28.

Sheezel would be my Number 1 choice following Ashcroft. Pipe dream slider

Weideman looked like genuine top end talent as well.
Talls make me nervous.

I could be wrong , but this draft seems to have a bit of midfield depth.
In 2018 Caldwell was 11th, Butters was 12th.
Even last year, Hobbs was able to play AFL footy pretty well.

Looking at back around the last decade key defenders are actually one of the safest bets iti he first round.

I posted a list a couple of months back and their were only one or two genuine busts.

I'm not too excited about any of the mids after McKenzie, Humphry, Philppou

The only Saints fans licking their lips are the ones who have no idea about the draft. He wont be there at 5 let alone our pick.
