It's hard to say what his range is since the phantoms have him anywhere from 14 to 40. I'm looking squarely at GWS and that last pick of the 1st round #20 or so after bids.

Roughly speaking
20 & 58
for
30 & 34

They'd want a sweetener though.
I’m not sure I want to trade up for him.

To be honest, I was mucking around with ways of trying to grab another teens pick.

This draft feels like there is so much talent in the top 40

Yes a good strategy future first and 28 for the next pick.

Sound overs and people say what about next years first. two things to that.

Next year will work itself out. If NWM wants to go home for example, we can get two firsts or a first and a high second. Back into the draft at a high level. Yeah we loose a quality player and two years, but CMAC and Phillipou have been in the Lyon system for a year.

We had a plan to hit the draft to turn things around. We got three high potential players blooded and really came on (kudo's to Ratts there), we land CMAC, Phillipou and nail pick 32, there is a great base to launch.

In full agreement with you Yawkey way if the opportunity comes we do it.

Edit: Forgot FA's as well. We will hopefully be in a better place to land a quality FA next season as well.
If you can get two very good kids this year, you just do it rathe4 than wait another year. Hastens the build.
No brainer for me.
Worry about getting another first round pick next year.

Asked about his own name, Shadeau said: “I think mum and dad got it (from) French.”

Lol non mon pote! The spelling might be 'in the style of French', but that's as far as that goes my dear Shadowbrain. That name is directly from somewhere in the New World.

And I'm gathering there is not much to do out Finley way

And if you’re wondering, Shadeau isn’t the only unique name amongst the clan.

“Wispa, Joc, Shadeau, Wynta, Jasper, Forest, Jed, Zac, Brittany, Whilloe, Carrissa, James and Brendan,” he explained.

Teams will regret underrating this draft imo. Covid and lack of exposure is what’s made them uncomfortable not lack of talent. If we can I’m loading up if anyone wants to trade out and I’m taking anyone I really like late not waiting for the rookie draft where anyone can grab them.

Then, of course, there’s the other son no one dares speak of

I’m the opposite. If there is a player that slides, yes but next year looks like a good draft. What we really need is absolute cream players. Not numbers. I reckon the best of this draft will be gone in the first 12 picks or so. Guys like Hollands and Hotton, maybe Jefferson might go just outside that and be guns too but it look an even lot this year more than super standout.

They thought it was a big country house.

There’s no way I’m trading our first rounder next year. Imagine having a bad year and not having a top 5 pick to feel better about it. Way too risky, that’s what too 4 teams should be doing. Last time we wanted to trade our first rounder we wanted to do it for Collier-Dawkins and he was just delisted so I wouldn’t be getting overly emotional on draft night again.

I just can't see him lasting till 30 though. I'm happy to burn some capital to get that pick too. There may well be someone better available.

Bottom 6: Norff, Hawks, WC, Essington, Adelaide, GWS

So an off year might see us with pick 7-10 which means a very acceptable calculated risk if we want to grab another player around our pick this year.

Equally if we have a very good year and play finals it becomes a masterstroke.

He's a high risk type. Meant to be very uncommitted to the idea of being a pro footballer. Absolute star traits though. He might slide just for that reason.

Overrating yourself is exactly what gets you into trouble. We all thought the Essendon game last year was going to be easy work and they came out and smacked us, nobody knows what’s going to happen next season.

Potential upside: slight upgrade on our first rounder if we have a good year.

Potential downsides: we slide down the ladder and miss out on getting the cream we desperately need. That’s a disaster in my eyes.

Take him on his merits of course. Mostly l want that pick coz its a sweet spot usually and offers a long term strategic advantage.
If he's mates with NWM then so much the better. Get Paddy back to work with him twice a week and game days..

Should need a license to breed ffs

If they have done the work and they have identified a talent they desperately want.

Back ourselves in.

it doesn’t need to be over thought.

If we are shit enough to land a top 5 pick next year. Chances are we will be in the bottom 5 for a few years
