Take the kid who oozes the most figjam that can also back it up with our first pick. We need confident, self driven leaders to get us out of this rut. Jhye clark looks like a good option if available, same goes with Cadman.
Young fella named Jack Bytel that fits that mold. Big strong midfielder, clearance and tackling machine with elite skills and decision making. Unfortunately lacks outside pace and uncontested possessions so maybe not for us.

Where di you see that I know he ranks him the 6th best player at this stage, didn;t know he expects to him to be taken fifth.
Said it on AFL exchange last night. Was very impressive for his APS side back in there grand final equivalent, dragging them back into the game after being well down at half time.

I think we're odds on to take Cam Mckenzie, tbh acadmeny or not. Trained with the club, local and and what we need.

I think we may just fall outside where he goes. I think if he's there he's a very good chance though. Sheezel is still my dream. I just have a good feeing that he'll be something pretty special. I dream he slips out to us.

I think the order will go something like

1. Bd on Ashcroft, genuine rort
2. North - Wardlaw
3. WC- Budslinger
4. Giants - Clark
5. Bombers - tstatas
6. Crows - Phillopou
7. Hawthorn - Sheezel
Cant think of a clear next group
8. GC -
9. PA
10 St Kilda

If a player is too good they shouldn’t be allowed to be father sonned. Or they should let us have Mckenzie

I think after the dogs were able to take JUH there should have been a ruling that gave the rest of the clubs access to one top 10 academy talent.
It’s an incredible leg up that potentially netted a side contending for a premiership a generational talent.
It’s any wonder it takes clubs so long to rebuild with the compromised nature of the draft

T

he system is a genuine disgrace. I have a soft spot for the FS, but I think all acadamies should be disbanded. Of course they change the rules after the Dogs have already taken JUH.

If you want to spew look at Sydney and who they got as academy picks. Mills has turned into a top 20 AFL player, Heeney, Gulden and Campbell look like stars. Campbell was a top 5 pick but because no-one bid on him so they got to take Logan McDonald as well so get 2 stars at pick 4 and 5. It's a double dip so not only do they get a top 5 pick they get 2.

Yes the great advantage the Swans have is that they get ongoing access every year to top-end talent. That is a HUGE advantage.

Oh I have Gringo many times. Give any other club mills hedney Campbell Goulding and Blakey and look how much better their rebuild is.

I'm hoping for one of 3 players right now that would be in our draft range, 1 across each line of the field.
Busslinger
McKenzie
Cadman

Getting any of these players would be the best outcome I feel unless someone like Tsatas slides.
Keeler, Hustwaite and Humphrey are all intriguing to me as well.

I'm never keen to take KPBs with high picks. I'm hoping a mid with our first and a sliding tall with our second.

I generally agree but unfortunately there are a lack of intercepting KPBs in this draft. Busslinger and Weddle being the 2 main ones, with Hayes being a more shutdown player. Weddle being 191cm means he would just take Battle's spot across the backline. Maybe draft Hayes with our 2nd to free up Howard a bit more, but they're about the only solid key backs options right now.

I reckon you can always convert a forward. Maybe a Harry Lemmey type who's dropped away a bit or another drifter.

Here’s a couple worth considering to fill ruck chb

Harry Boyd (Norwood)

Ruckman/defender, 24, 198cm, 108kg

Ranking points average: 143 (SANFL)

You can’t have such a dominant year and go unnoticed, especially when you’re a ready-made ruckman. Boyd arrived at Norwood in 2021, as a key-position player who had spent the previous few seasons playing for Shepparton and VFL side Werribee. His impact increased as the year went on, and then exploded in 2022, with Boyd leading the competition for ranking points and averaging 17 disposals, 13 contested possessions and 10 hit-outs-to-advantage per game. Boyd outmuscles his opponents in the air and on the ground, to give his midfielders first use – or take it away himself. He tallied a remarkable 31 disposals, 25 contested possessions, 14 clearances and eight intercepts in Round 17 and, given his experience in the role, he’s often in a good spot to win the ball back in defence.

Ethan Phillips (Port Melbourne)

Key defender, 23, 198cm

Ranking points: 112 (VFL)

Phillips has had a breakout campaign for Port Melbourne, where he leads the VFL for intercepts per game (11.5) and intercept marks per game (5.1). Earlier in the year against the Northern Bullants, the 198cm key defender racked up a staggering 24 intercept possessions and 12 intercept marks in a single game. Borough coach Adam Skrobalak said Phillips’ marking and reading of the play is as good as he has seen in the VFL, and he has been able to maintain his intercept game while playing on AFL-listed forwards. Phillips’ athleticism and kicking are areas for improvement but with intercepting such a crucial part of the game and key defenders in short supply, Phillips shapes as a mature-age option who can make an impact right away.

I didnt know Jack Hayes had a brother playing NAB?

Lewis Hayes - (Eastern) - 197cm 81kg - high disposal KPD, interceptor, possibly the best KPD in the pool? beat opponents for VM all carnival, brother of StKilda Hayes, good defensive abilities, spoils ect, high DE% kicking, so good and careful disposal, likely 1st round
