The scenario put was that Hewett was the last and only recognized top 10 playre left on the board. Would you risk the go home danger? Because I probably wouldn't.
However it's all subject to where they rate the next group of 5 which we'll never know.

As it stands , its likely we'll get either Mackenzie or Phillipou. If it got to our pick and they were gone, i'd contemplate a live trade but it would probably also mean Buslinger was still there, and he may well be worth it.

Stack is definitely the only Delistee I'd want to have us look at as an immediate pick up, presuming RTB is on his way and could kick metaphorical butt.

Then maybe leave a list spot open and have one or two of blokes like Stocker, Narkle and RCD (along with a state leaguer) put in a preseason and see what they have to offer in terms of effort and cohesion.

Would like a Stack, Narkle/RCD, Callow/Philips as delisted free agents.. covers 3 key areas we need add: 1. run from backline. 2. Mid 3. Key back.

As it stands , its likely we'll get either Mackenzie or Phillipou. If it got to our pick and they were gone, i'd contemplate a live trade but it would probably also mean Buslinger was still there, and he may well be worth it.

Take either and be thrilled.

Phillipou could be anything.

Mackenzie has serious foot skills and is one of those accumulators who gets is 2-3 times in the one chain.

We lack both.

I’m more concerned why we haven’t heard of any bolters yet.

Because if we could land one of these 2 and potentially someone delicious has has just fallen to 11-12. I would be on the phone to Carlton and the doggies offering next years first.

Next year looks a much better draft. You don't trade out of those. This is the kind of draft that there are some good players that have high potential all the way through but has a lot less superstar class types than normal. Guys like Gallagher and D'Aloia could go in the 20s and end up top players

Every year is apparently a better draft.

But ultimately I think we will get a first off NWM or Clark and i think our pick next year is more valuable now than what it will be in reality next season.

I think that if we had Ross in when we got Ratts in we would have been playing finals the last 2 years and building. We play finals next year if the players adapt quickly. His sides always seem to need a period of adjustment.

I get the idea of trading the picks forward but we still lack superstars and trading out of the first round is how you miss them. If Clark has a bad year he's probably a pick in the 20s at best. It sounds as though he'd want Port due to the family connections. If he nominates we have **** all to do but take their loose change. Cripps isn't a guy that gives up more than he has to.

Yes you'd take any of those boys and TBH unless they plan to tank next year it might be ok to look at live trading a future 1st to take 2 of those boys. Of course next year's draft will be the best ever apparently..

Hypothetically if we go to our pick and both those boys sat there for us.

Still think Hotton could bolt. Tbh I’d consider taking him with our pick. Has the most number of weapons of many of the guys around the mark imo

I like this, but I feel we would need to offer more. The offer would need to be too good to refuse territory. Next years pick for pick 11-12 on a slider wouldn’t get the deal done IMO.

Might depend on where the list manager rated the draft.

If they think that next years draft is in fact much better than this year, I suppose it makes sense.

Normally though the club trading into the current draft have to give something though looking back on past trades.

Gonna take all four. Mids first then key defenders and probably a small forward

Premium midfielders, another tall back, small forward to replace Butler with pace and defensive abilities. Another tall forward to help out King. Perhaps a project ruck. I like the idea of Ethan Phillips late as a VFL mature age KP defender.

Our list is bad enough that it would only take a bit of bad luck injury wise , for us to finish in the bottom 3. Trading out our future 1st is not an option imo , and the gaining of an extra 1st rounder , or the moving up from pick 9 should be done with the 3 x 2nd rounders we currently hold , in the next 2 drafts. Or With live trading , if we believe that we can move back in the draft , and still achieve the same or similar outcome , we could possibly pick up an extra second rounder in the 2023 Draft.
