I think they got him to get into some fights in pubs and get thrown out by bouncers prior to the draft. They half hid Darling, didn't they?
Not sure why Hawthorn cut him, i guess they also have Lewis, Kosi and Jeka vying for 2 key forward positions, and Lewis, kosi are a lockHope we have a look at Jackson Callow as either a DFA or rookie, have a gut feeling he will become a Jack Hayes type, still only a 20yo.
Bit of a throwback full forward type, so without the added positional versatility and athleticism clubs look for these days. Not sure why Hawthorn cut him, i guess they also have Lewis, Kosi and Jeka vying for 2 key forward positions, and Lewis, kosi are a lock

Only on the tv during the championships, he was the best big man out there without doing anything outstanding. He’s big, likes the contest and won the hit outs, didn’t take many marks but there’s plenty to work with.Knightmare has us taking Max Knobel (Son of Trent) 206 cm and still growing as our third pick in draft.
Anybody seen him play?
I like him and I’d be more than happy to rookie him. I watched him dominate a game in the sanfl, he did manage 2 senior games at hawthorn. If nothing else we get a good look at him and he provides a target at full forward for sandy. Not sure why Hawthorn cut him, i guess they also have Lewis, Kosi and Jeka vying for 2 key forward positions, and Lewis, kosi are a lock
I'd be surprised if he didn't go back to the SANFL or something similar.Bit of a throwback full forward type, so without the added positional versatility and athleticism clubs look for these days.
Tiny bit undersized too on that basis.
He’ll go somewhere in the bush or EDFL or something and kick absolute bags and make a fair bit of coin.
I haven't heard anything about thar scenario, but somebody did put the ideaAny truth to the rumours of trading in a second Top 12ish pick?

We need to keep our first pick this year.I haven't heard anything about thar scenario, but somebody did put the idea
that we would split pick 9 for 2 later first round picks, when I heard that I thought we'd be better off trading out this year and into next years' first round.
I'm interested in all three scenarios.
First scenario is for us to trade into a top 12 pick, we'd have to give up next years' first.
-GWS have worked hard to get pick 1 for Cadman
- it's a gamble for us, if we perform better next year, we come out ahead but next years' draft is deeper so there's an equalization there. It's also a gamble for the other team, us vs them.
- a willing partner, it's difficult to imagine any team below us being willing to trade out a first-round pick for one next year.
-Nth with 2&3 likewise have too much invested in this draft to take the chance.
-Ess with pick 4 I can't see the value for them.
-GCS with pick 5, I admit is a possibility but we'd have to add a second, do GCS need another young mid? They might do the trade if there are good talls in next years draft.
-Hawks with pick 6, given that Sam Mitchell has been trying to get high end picks, it seems unlikely but it might work the other way around ie our first for Hawks next years first.
-Geelong with pick 7, I'd be amazed if they were willing to trade this out, not only is Jhye Clark seemingly ideal, they need to get some young talent in.
-West Coast have 8 & 12, but need as much talent as they can get.
-We're at 9
-Carlton at 10, starts to become interesting, how much do they believe that they will rise and we will drop? How do they rate this years' crop vs next year, and what do they need?
-The Doggies at 11 seem to be ideal for us, their list to my eyes is the most complete, they have a glut of midfield talent, a well entrenched coach and no need for ready to go players, if the drafting team are excited by next years' crop the gamble looks easy.
-Melb at 13 could be a goer too, beyond pick 13, we're probably giving up too much.
Scenario 2, splitting our pick 9 for 2 later picks, given Walsh has talked about needing elite talent the pick swap doesn't seem likely.
If we do want to split pick 9, then on the face of it GWS and the Swans are the only possibilities. It really would come down to who they want and who we want, who's left on the table after pick 8, a live trade may be the only way this happens.
Scenario 3, us trading out of pick 9 this year for a first round pick next year.
How big are our balls, how do the list group rate the talent in both, if just for arguments sake we really want MacKenzie or Phillipou and they're both gone by our first pick, does that bring this trade into focus. If they are both gone does this push the splitting option as well.
The wild card.
Ross Lyon, how much buy in can RTB get from the players, how will NWM, Clark, Coffield and Gresham respond to Ross. I bring these guys up because on the face of it they might be tradable for a first next year, if they say 2 of them want out and we trade into next year we could possibly have 4 picks and set ourselves for a generation, the same if we trade for a pick this year, two firsts this year plus two firsts next year.
I'm with you on keeping pick 9, what we really need is elite mids or a tall mid forward, for me a trade only happens if CMac, Humphrey B and Phillipou are off the board, with CMac as our best bet, he seems closest to being ready to go and most likely to make an impact next year.We need to keep our first pick this year.
A pick or two after our current selection the quality steps down noticeably.
I we trade next year's first, it could be for the Swans first, with us gambling that we will have a better year.
Swans probably fancy themselves to have a better year next year than us.
Yer kind of like how I watch 92% of all games of football. Onya champNah just actually watch blokes play.
You should try it sometime.

Great move IMO.

When they trade , they usually assume the worst.
A bird in the Hand is worth 2 in the bush. = A draft pick this year is worth 2 next year.
Example.
Hawks wanted pick 10 2016 They gave up their 2017 1st + Pick 23 + Pick 36.
You have to really really want that pick.
That is not a good example as they needed our pick 10 to get the JOM trade done which they were desperate for, and so they were willing to pay overs. History also shows that the deal did not go well for them.
Melbourne have done it a couple of times in the last few years and havnet had to give up the overs you are suggestingWhen they trade , they usually assume the worst.

If we wanted to get the Swan's first rounder, we'd need to give up at least one of our seconds as well as the future first. Why on earth would they gamble on just getting a slightly better first rounder next year.
The only time it looks different is when there are academy or f/s shenanigans going on. Oh or presumably when gold coast are involved. ( Maybe they will give up their future second next year if we take Ben off their hands ).
Wouldn't it be nice to have a Top 10 uncompromised with F/S and academy picks?? That the bottom 10 sides get dibs at the the top 10 players???
Im dreaming of course

In 2020 they traded in 18 and 19 and F2 for a future first, 25, 68 and 69
Last year the swapped 17 for a future first, all they had to do was a slight downgrade with their 2nd and 3rd rounders. And they were expected to win another flag the next year
In 2019 they gave up a F1, 26 and 50 for a first but that was pick 8, not a late first like we are talking about.
It all depends on how Sydney would see their list and how they rate the draft compared to next years.
I'd imagine they would jump at a swap of 17 for our F1 to be honest. I doubt clubs are expecting our pick to be anything past 10-12 next year.
I definitely wouldn't do it though
Ginbey wont get past WC pick and Clark wont get past Geelongs pick. Top 4 look locked.1-gws: cadman
2-bris: ashcroft
3-north: wardlaw
4-north: sheezel
5-ess: Humphrey
6-suns: ginbey
7-haw: tsatas
8-cats:Clark
9-wc: busslinger
I’m starting to think one of cmac/Tsatas is a real chance of getting to us. As long as one of Essendon, Gold Coast or hawthorn take ginbey, which I think means west coast will take another local boy such as busslinger, Hewitt or Allan. I feel like hawks will choose out of cmac or Tsatas, and Geelong surely take Clark. Phillipou could also be on the board also. We are in a pretty sweet spot where we just sit and wait to see what falls through. I’d actually prefer cmac then Tsatas anyway. Tsatas reminds me of trealoar. Knows how to find the footy and burst from stoppages, but doesn’t have the composure to slow down and hit a target. Where as I see cmac as a similar type of breakaway from stoppage mid, but with better composure and foot skills. Would complement windhager in the middle perfectly, with nas on a wing and Mitchy as a 50/50 mid forward. I also hope we take a classy pressure forward with our second such as Charlie Clarke, Konstanty etc
