Maybe it is Pou and we think other clubs will swoop on him if we don’t get him at 7.I wonder who our target would be to be in discussions with Hawthorn about a pick swap?
Fair chance that whoever Essendon don't pick out of Tsatas and Phillipou could make it to 10 so that tells me it's probably Mackenzie.
Maybe we've been scared off Phillipou due to the figjam
I'd hate to give up too much, quite happy with where our pick sits right now
If we could find a way to get Hewett as well, that could get well end up a great 1st and 2nd pickI think the gunslinger is being underrated here. Apparently played injured this year. If it happened to be that the original “top 9” were all gone by 10 and we were tossing up between him and Ginbey, I’d have no issue with us taking Buss. He definitely fits a need and if he’s as good or better than Gibcus (who we tried to trade up for?) then happy days.
Those who play KPD are exceptionally safe bets in the first dozen or so picks. Incredibly low bust-rate over the last 20 years.
West coasts 1st could potentially give us access to Harley Reid tho next year, if they finish last and he looks like he is certain to become a gun midI think it might sound tempting now for some to trade up but in 12 months we would all be talking about what could have been with that draft.

Predicting the order: How the AFL draft might play out
The best young footballers in the country are set to find AFL homes in this year’s draft. Here are The Age’s predictions on how the first round may unfold.www.theage.com.au
McGowan very similar to Twomey, has us taking Phillipou.
Mattaes Phillipou (midfielder/forward - Woodville West Torrens)
The Saints will happily snap up Phillipou if Essendon and Hawthorn both pass on him. This selection could depend on which player ends up slipping through, whether it’s Mackenzie, Tsatas, Phillipou or even Clark. Any of those will make for a worthy pick for the start of the next Ross Lyon era. League rule changes in the past two years meant they could match a bid on Mackenzie only if he tumbled outside the top 40 selections, which won’t happen. But St Kilda love Elijah Hewett, so don’t rule out a shock selection
Maybe worried about other clubs trading up for Phillipou so we are being proactive with it? Means Hawks wouldn't fall far enough to miss CMac either.I wonder who our target would be to be in discussions with Hawthorn about a pick swap?

Source? What would we give up?Saints targeting Giants pick 17 for Hewett.
heynow85Sydney pick you mean? Or giants pick 19?
Saints targeting Giants pick 17 for Hewett.
"This pick is in St Kilda’s sights, but they would have to give up a future first-round pick to prise it from the Giants. West Australian Elijah Hewett is the target if the Saints pull off the deal, while Essendon are also eyeing off Hewett and are keen to climb from No.22. But assuming GWS hold on to the selection, Konstanty looms as the player they will draft. The Giants need more small forward depth, which they partly addressed in trading for ex-Demon Toby Bedford after losing Bobby Hill. Forward-half pressure was something they lacked in 2022, so Konstanty would fit in well with the fit-again Brent Daniels. They were previously linked to Jefferson, but he is likely to be off the board."
I'd have no issues with us giving up a couple of 2nd round picks for 17, but a future first and I'll melt like a mother *er I reckon

17. GWS Giants
Jacob Konstanty (Small forward - Gippsland Power)

It's worth noting that there are also academy players next year that will go high so whilst 15 turns into 17 whatever we have next year will also slide.Oh, i assume that's with bids. Sydney have 17.
I'd consider trading for it but if it involves a future first, their future first would have to come back to us.
It would be batshit insane to trade a future first for pick 17
That's the fun thing with the draft and what makes us all look like idiots (and occasional geniuses). I think Hewett is awesome, would take above quite a few that will be drafted ahead of himIt's worth noting that there are also academy players next year that will go high so whilst 15 turns into 17 whatever we have next year will also slide.
I just don't rate Hewett that highly and the way next years draft is looking I think it's a gamble we'd likely go on to regret.
Yep, pick 12 next year for pick 17 this year if we rate Hewitt that highly is worth the gambleDepends where we rate Hewett & where we project to finish. It could be Hewett for 2023 pick 12. Not bad. But yes it’s a gamble. I’d do it.
I don't know anything about Hewitt where have most got him going ?It's worth noting that there are also academy players next year that will go high so whilst 15 turns into 17 whatever we have next year will also slide.

Two 1st rounders this year to go with NWM - Owens & Windy
We complained how vanilla we have been, take the chance and the mini rebuild is well under way
Phillipou - Hewitt - NWM -Owens - Windy

Conservative approach over the past 12 years has been an abortion let’s take a risk for once. This is the kind of thing that destroys clubs for a long time. That pick 12 might be pick 5. Its very little upside and that's with me leading the hewett cheersquad
