I need some inspiration boys and girls !
in the past I have been able to make up a wish list after scouring the highlights packages.
Blokes I got very hot for in the past were Stringer , Richards and Williams. Was wrapped we ended up drafting them at the time.

This batch are not doing it for me !
Jaxon Binns, Elijah Hewett, Darcy Jones, Coby Burgiel, Jakob Ryan and Anthony munkarra bring some excitement.
Jacob Konstanty and charlie Clarke for some forward pressure.
If youre looking for intercept marks Tom Mccallum, Luke Teal, kyle Marshall, Jed Adams, James Van Es and Harry Barnett will be of interest.

Edited to add a couple names.
Yes Dav I would be all in on McKenzie , but there looks to be little chance he lasts to us.
Classy decision maker !
Every chance someone like Mackenzie or Clark fall down the order with guys like philipou and Allan Climbing up the board.

Thanks mate , appreciate all you blokes that have done the “ homework “ for us.
I will now go off and do some more viewing 👍

My board (more of a metaphorical board than literal) looks like this when put in order:

At 11/
Clark, Mackenzie, Busslinger, Allan, Hewett, Hollands

At 21/
Weddle, Konstanty, George, Cowan, Jakob Ryan, Jones, Hotton,

39/
very hard to predict who is still there but Van Es would be a dream, if not Burgiel (probably unlikely but who knows), drury,

Bold are ones who I think are unlikely to slip to our pick

Just realized we have three fourth round picks next year. Do not understand why we landed ourselves to many when.

1. We likely will not use any of them
2. They are all practically useless to trade up as they are worth zero points

Which makes us apparently "stalling" the Dunkley deal because we wanted a 4th round pick back a little confusing.

Only just noticed it because I went to check how much would points packaging our 2nd and 3 x 4ths would be worth. To see if we can try and trade up for another first round pick, should someone be looking to trade back for academy players and get extra points. So it would give us 3 x first round picks in a strong draft. Nope, not going to happen. Current second worth between 350-400 at this point, and the 4ths are worth zero. Bummer!

Am I the only one who wouldn't be excited at all if we drafted Ollie Hotton? A smaller mid-forward is the last position we need.

His playing style looks very very similar to Rhylee West, plus we also have Garcia and McNeal and to lesser extent McLean.

Would rather just draft a genuine small forward at that spot.

Would be happy with Brayden George has he looks like has a lot more tricks.

Hotton is alot faster but alot more outside then west. The only issue I have with George apart from his injury is his defensive intent. Can't fit anymore players up forward that don't tackle.

Was reading fox footy draft board top prospects ranked 1-50 article and found this interesting.

25. JACOB KONSTANTY

Position:
Small forward

Size: 176cm, 70kg

Clubs: Gippsland Power/Drouin/Vic Country

AFL player comparison: Dylan Moore

The soccer convert’s remarkable rise could end up in him having an immediate impact at AFL level in 2023. Konstanty is a lively small forward that brings ample defensive intensity yet possesses a deep trick bag that makes him dangerous around goal. He was a standout for Gippsland Power at NAB League level this year, kicking 17 goals and averaging 15 disposals and six tackles from 14 matches to earn Team of the Year honours and finish runner-up in the Power’s best and fairest award. He also kicked four goals in three matches for Vic Country at national championships level. Konstanty seemingly has a wide draft range. He’s long had interest from the Giants, but Carlton might consider him too should the club trade down the order and end up with multiple early picks. Other clubs have linked Konstanty to North Melbourne and the Bulldogs in the second round.

If Konstanty is available at 21, I'd take him without hesitation. His pressure would be incredibly valuable.

Hi - this is factually incorrect. I'll try to find the analysis for you and post it in here...

Hence key word "apparently" Just went off what the Lions list manager gave off in his cheeky little post trade period chat.

Either way my main point was the 4th rounders are useless, so no idea why we loaded up on so many of them when we likely won't use them and they have no trade up value. Was hoping we could use them to package up for a trade up next year, and saw they have zero points value just about, much to my disappointment.

I posted this just after the trade period.

In terms of draft points index (not a great measure, but it’s a thing) the difference between the original offer from Brisbane and what we got is: 1096 points, or Pick 15/16.

All up the deal we accepted comes in at Pick 5, rejecting the offer that valued Dunkley at Pick 24.

Obviously it’s not quite like that - but shows the difference value between the two offers.

I agree on the potential use of the 4th rounders - but they are often packaged up with other picks during trades - so might have some limited use next year ?

I’d say the value they have to us would be in trading. 4th rounders still get moved around a lot to grease the wheels during trade week.

Plus the Bears first offer was crud.

I think one of the big appeals for us with Busslinger is his foot skills. We seemingly really value good kicks out of the backline.

Realistically Jones has two years in him (hopefully) so there is plenty of time to develop Busslinger.

He’s my preferred pick. Then again I wanted Aish over Bont and Coffield over Naughton, so what do I know!

I miss the days of having Dalrymple and not stressing about who he’d pick. This is Milesi’s first real live draft. Interested to see how he goes.

Hollands interview with pommyinoz

Interesting that both him and pommy feel that he is more of a inside/outside mid. Backs up the McLuggage comparison.

Van Es is a good kick aswell.

We had the misfortune to have picks 1 and 4 in the 2003 ND. I say misfortune because it was probably our best draft hand ever, but coincided with one of the worst drafts ever. What saved it for us was Adam Cooney who was a standout at pick #1.

The point of this historical digression is that we took Farren Ray at pick #4 in that draft and he was a late convert from soccer just like Konstanty. Ray left us after 75 games and played most of his career at St Kilda as a bland, handy player who was never outstanding. Somehow he managed to rack up over 200 games but across his whole career got only 9 Brownlow votes, so you'd have to say that's a disappointing return for a running small player at pick #4.

I can see the appeal of Konstanty as a latecomer to AFL, suggesting that he is still only part way up a big improvement curve. This same hope however never materialised into any great improvement for Ray. If we did end up drafting Konstanty as an early second rounder I'd just hope that he has more strings to his bow (such as his tackling) and turns out better than Ray did.

Wouldn't be completely against him at pick 21 but I'd be a bit nervous.

Wouldn't mind seeing if we could get one of the Sydney picks this year.

Every year it's always the next year's draft that's better and I would much rather get someone in through the door and put work into them then waste a year for the sake of a few draft positions.

Plus we have no idea what our next off season will be like, taking this year for example.

6 tackles a game in Nab League, most of which in forward 50 is elite. Would be the perfect foil for flea. He is a bit like Kozi in that he is quick and makes defenders nervous because they know he is honing in. Not saying he is going to be as good as Kozi but heard him say in an interview he likes to get his first tackle early in the game as he has found that the rest of his game gets going on the back of that. Might not be a star but this team has plenty of stars, it just needs role Players with a few tricks of their own to compliment them.
