Realistically we're taking three ND picks, Lachie Sullivan as a rookie, and Oskar Baker as a SSP player. Sullivan doesn't fill a need and isn't a long-term project player. Feels wasteful when we could try out a high risk high reward player in a position of need.
That would be absolutely awful 😂 but yes not surprising, considering how much we love wasting list spots on trash

Agree with the sentiment sounds like Busslinger will be our first, Hollands really warming for Blues and I can’t see us overlooking Buss for Allen. Can’t see anyone before Blues taking him either.

That would be a bloody fantastic result in all honesty, would be a dream come true considering I thought we’d be well out of his range. Best key defender in the draft with a huge ceiling to develop with our ridiculously promising young spine. Darcy Buss English Naughty Marra - wow

I’d be all over 14 & 17 from Sydney, it’s just a great range for us specifically. It makes sense for Sydney because they are genuinely stacked for kids, spreading the age of their list whilst loading up in a stronger draft is a no brainer, whilst for us we don’t have that luxury as we need more kids on the list ASAP. The bottom half of our list is pretty rubbish and needs a real refresh ASAP - 2 decent picks, Sullivan and Baker is absolutely not the refresh it needs.

F1 & 21 for 14 & 17 would get it done I’d imagine. That would mean we ended up turning Dunks into 14, 17 & F2 which is about right

Looking long term
Liam Jones on a three year deal is ideal for us to take Buss
Once he finishes up, Buss would be mature enough to slot into that sweeper role

I'm all in on Busslinger now.

Even though I feel he isn't the type of defender we need NOW. Given we currently have 5 players who can play the tall or intercept role down back. And that I feel we need a more Morris lock down the quick medium and small forwards that F us up more often than talls. Which is why I was more a Weddle fan. And the fact it will be a tight squeeze to break into the best 22 for a couple of seasons.

BUT. It gives us a lot more depth and flexibility. Especially how injury prone we have been. With Bruce and Keath having question marks over whether they can bounce back next year after looking cooked from injuries. We at least have someone ready to step up with a high ceiling. I still think Darcy ends up forward long term as well. Unless we overpay to trade up again, it is clear Busslinger is highest odds to reach us out of the three main defenders. Given the other two are heavily courted by teams before our pick 21.

It is a shame we couldn't get to see him do combine testing to put to rest any query's about his athletic ability. But his ball use and high game IQ/positioning is very good for a tall player. You cannot train footy smarts, and good ball use is important in todays high pressure, turn over ridden games.

Still not certain he definitely lands at us though, as much as all the phantom drafts are guessing. Esp if Eagles miss out on Ginbey, and the Cats have been long term admirers of him as well, despite heavier links to Clark and Tsatas. Saints have so many holes, and tend to pull out WTF type picks. So who knows what direction they will go if the Hawks take MacKenzie.

According to the Australian and Cal Twomey, we're interested in Shaun Bennier. Anyone seen anything of him? DraftCentral is saying that he's a 193cm swingman that generally plays in defence. Plays tall and moves well for a 193cm player, just a touch over 3 seconds over 20 metres and came second in the state combine for agility tests.

Doesn't excite me. Looks slow in games, appears advantaged by his more developed frame at the level. I'd say he doesn't have the leap to take kpp or the speed to take smaller opponents. Think Zaine cordy or gould.

I just looked Bennuier up. Geez he looks a massive build. His legs are thick like tree stumps. Surprised he is mobile.

The other two late whispers are McCallum a 193cm Medium swing man. Played patches up front, and then most of the season down back. Out of all the three names, would prefer him the most even though he is raw.

The other is a wingman Caleb Mitchell. His weaknesses are speed and kicking. Two things you WANT in wingers.

Busslinger and Clarke is a good haul for us. With Baker lining up as a supplement pick. It would not surprise me if we pass on wing with the first two picks.

I think we may go George and Cowan over Clarke if either are available as well. Still wish we had another pick in the 20's

He isn't very mobile he doesn't have much of a tank.
I also rate mccallum
I'd be happy with clarke but think George doesn't fit into our side given he plays more like an undersized key forward.
Would also like someone more one on one orientated then buss.
All in all I've already come to terms with the fact I'll be disappointed come Wednesday.

I’d rather Weddle than Busslinger. 4cm shorter and not as tidy a kick, but he’s a good and versatile defender rather than just an interceptor. Uses his speed and athleticism in game, both to defend and with ball in hand. Players like Busslinger that rely heavily on positioning and smarts to overcome athletic shortcomings at the junior level scare me. Feel free to bookmark for lols or cap doffs in a few years.

The last few years we’ve had at least one name pop up where we’ve all said “WHO?” and gone searching the draft write ups to find out who this kid that nobody has talked about really is. Players like Garcia, Vandermeer, Butler, Arthur Jones and so on.

This isn't really a glowing endorsement, is it.... .

Garcia has been OK, but Butler gone and Vanders looks a bust to me. Early days on Arthur, but the lack of development in the first year has been concerning.

Sometimes BigFooty actually does know better. [emoji1]
