What's to lose for them (and the rest of the competition) in making Brisbane give up more pick value? It's a net gain for 17 clubs other than Brisbane, without risk that they wouldn't match.

He signed a contract months ago for 4 years. Brisbane had an under table agreement not to bid despite the AFL "cracking down" on it
