Anyone else feel like Dogs are just going to take 1 player in the draft and rookie promote two players?

God I ****ing hope not, we need to actually get a refresh and bring in new talent now that we don't have a compromised draft hand since next year will probably also be compromised with Croft.

agreed but unless we finally get around to delistments

We only have 1 spot free atm, Since Lobb takes up the Dunks spot on the list if we land him

Surely, Butler and Martin are gone

Expecting this:
3 draft picks prior to 25.
1 later pick on a VFL player.
1 rookie pick.

We have too many good F/S over the next 3 drafts, that this is our only real chance to get in a few draftees in. Club won’t miss the opportunity.

Cordy, Hunter, Dunkley will ALL get traded. Lobb & Jones come in.

Likely to remove Martin, Butler and another rookie from our list.

Am I correct in saying both Sweet and Khamis must be upgraded as they have spent the mandatory 3 (4) years on the rookie list and are contracted for next year.

If you want to watch some old games
Pretty hard to watch but it’s something for those who like me don’t like judging a player based purely on highlights

I’d need to get a team sheet to watch those because I don’t know every player by name yet

But that game I watched of Metro vs WA
Lewis Hayes looked real nice in that game, didn’t seem to have as many of those deer in the headlights moments

Busslinger looked more like a quarterback role than a key defender but it impressed me how he ran hard to create marking options from the backline or would otherwise direct teammates, got caught behind a forward once & couldn’t affect the contest at all. Seems to much prefer playing from the front
If he really was one of the best key defenders in this years draft, I don’t know why he wasn’t sent to Jefferson
Jefferson essentially locked up that game in the third quarter

Gibney looks a strong unit that can bullock through tackles but almost always looked to dispose of the ball by hand rather than kicking, WAs side seemed a lot more disorganised than Metro, Country and SA though

I use the NAB league app on my phone, it has all the numbers on there while I watch on another screen.

Ginbey's foot skills isn't one of his strengths, you'll notice he often bombs the ball out of stoppages if there's no options for a handball. He's pretty reliable by foot in defence though when there's less pressure.

I’d definitely back one of Weddle, Hayes or Phillips later on instead of going early on Buss. I think Hollands will be of real interest to us at 11.

I don't think Busslinger is the best available option anyway.

I don't mind the look of Gruzewski down back also. Athletic and I like his attack on the ball particularly when going for his marks.

Completely changes everything now we know we won’t have a stacked hand this year at least 😡

Just can’t risk going a mid on 11 and hoping for a defensive slider anymore IMO as we just need to fill that position. Best of the rest at 11 & then guaranteed a Hayes & Weddle at 15 would have been great

I hear you but I still think 11 is high enough to go with “best available” player.

Not convinced reaching for a tall early on is the best strategy and recruiters seem to be doing it less. There's examples of it not working out at all well with Lucas Cook, Mitch Brown, Seb Tape, Fischer McAsey to name a few. Phil Davis is one of the few that worked out that I can think of or maybe Plowman if you consider that a success.

Yeah probably right, I guess depends on who slides through and how high we rate them. Hopefully defenders can be found late too as we need at least one

I wouldn’t be against trading back into this draft with next years pick if we know there’s someone available we want. I know next years a good draft and would be nice to have two picks but I think we need to move this year

100% we take best available at 11. The players in the 5 to 12 range are fairly even, particular of midfielders with good ball use that can impact in the forward half. Which our very slow, vanilla, ball butchering midfield needs. We just need another pick in the late teens to early 20's and I'm confident one of Weddle or Hayes will be there. We'd be insane to reach hard for a defender at 11 purely out of panic. It would not surprise me if we split 11 on draft night if no player we like is there at 11.

I don’t want a tall at ~12, rather trade that pick to GWS and move back a few spots and move our pick from Lions up a few spots.

Pick ~18 is about when I saw talls being worth drafting BUT only IF you had already got a midfielder.

Not a bad idea wouldn’t be against moving 12 back into that range.

Although there could still be a pretty nice slider available

Does anyone reckon Cowan can make it as a winger? He seemed to show good signs in the middle, and seems to cover Sinns weaknesses. I feel Sinn will just be another Hunter. Will play his role, but won't hurt you as much. Where Cowan kicks it more consistently over long distances. Both can run, but I feel Cowan has a harder edge on the off ball stuff.
