Yes, we on BF do like our instant gratification (and we want it NOW!) But this year's draft is looking a bit meh.

I'd much rather we keep our F1 and F2 picks in place for what is reported to be a much stronger draft in 2023.

Depending on who is there at pick 11, I would even look to trade back and get future assets IF we get a great offer.

Dees, GWS and Sydney, could all want to move up a few slots and we could get a good haul from doing so.

I wouldn’t trade pick 11 for Blues F1 & F2 OR equivalent…. Unless we are talking North or Bombers future first…. Then I may ask for more than that and see what happens.

I'd imagine GWS would be interested in swapping 11, 21 and 39 for 18, 19 and 31 since I'm not sure they'll use any more than 2 picks.
Not sure if do it though.
Feel like there is still likely elite talent at 11 but not at 18

For me there’s 11 guys I’d consider a step above the others, and if they go as the top 11, I’d happily trade down. If Allan or Hollands squeezes in to the top 11 before our pick, I’d take whoever’s left from that 11.

I see it as more of a top 13. Ashcroft, Cadman, Sheezel, Wardlaw, Tsatas, Ginbey, Phillipou, Humphreys, Clarke, Mckenzie, Hewett, Busslinger, Hollands.
Who are the two you see a level below?

Really hoping WC decide that Hewett being a WA boy, makes him worthy of their first pick.

I've been seeing people talk about off-field issues with Hewett, plus at least one really off-putting act on field (kicking Angus Sheldrick while he was down on the ground), plus the suggestion that he'd be a flight risk.

I think Hollands is closer to that top 11 than the next group.
I know he's not really sexy but I think he can be an elite winger.
If you look at the current wingers in the AFL there really aren't any that consistently rack up possessions and are damaging line breakers. It's pretty rare to find players with both elite speed and stamina.
These days it's more about gut running both ways and being smart with positioning which Hollands does. He's also a pretty good user, the only real knock is it would be nice if he was taller/better overhead.

If you believe media it seems clubs think Allen fits somewhere in that top group too and perhaps Jefferson could go before our pick pushing others down.

Think we’ll get a decent offer for our pick #12 on draft night and will take it to move back in this draft and improve our hand next season.

There was a rumour gold coast might offer their future first to get Hollands. Unless they finish bottom 5 next year it looks like their pick would come after an NGA bid so it's not unfeasible.

Ablett says: The addition of Rory Lobb gives them another focal point up forward to help ease the burden on Aaron Naughton and a developing Jamarra Ugle-Hagan. With potency through the midfield and enough firepower up forward, the Dogs must look to a key defender. Since the retirement of Easton Wood they have been left a little exposed.

Draft Prediction: Lewis Hayes, a 199cm key defender, will likely be the first of his type taken and should be on the Dogs’ radar. He is the brother of Port Adelaide’s Sam. His ability to not only win the ball back but also win his share of one on one contests is impressive. Max Gruzewski is another player that should be available at the Dogs’ second selection.

My thoughts exactly would make sense for them. Would be huge for us to have three first rounders next year.

Herald sun reporting Essendon looking to trade down their pick 4, since they think they can grab Philipou later in draft.

Interesting thing for me is that we have a draft pick just before their 2nd round pick 22, and boy would they want to avoid us bidding on their Father son prospect.

The issue is.. would they believe that Philipou would last till pick 11, and the other question is which club would want to trade up to pick 4 and NOT want to pick up Philipou?

Maybe we could possibly trade pick 11, 39, 67 and future 1st selection for Bombers pick 4 and 22?

That way bombers have pick 39 and pick 67 as points towards Davey Jnr plus potentially Philipou at pick 11 plus a future 1st.

In return we get access to Tsatas/Humphrey/Clark/Ginbey at pick 4 plus pick 22 (in addition to our existing pick 21).

If it looked like philipou would be there at 11 I'd rather hold the pick. I like him more then tsatas/Humphrey/Clark/ginbey anyway.

I just can't see that any of those players are worth, effectively, trading two firsts for.

Seen a lot of suggestions the Saints will be the ones to make that trade. They want Tsatas. I don't think that for us, any of them are worth that much more than Phillipou and our future first.

If I was to trade upto 4 to ensure I got a player it'd be philipou. Seems like bombers are going to shoot themselves in the foot if they slide back

To be honest if I had pick 4 and Sheezel & Wardlow are off the board as expected, I’m taking Phillipou anyway…

We need to find a way to extract value out of Essendon though - we can practically generate a pick 22 out of thin air for them by swapping 21 & 22 (Providing Davey is on the board at 21) so we need to make them pay for that. I’m not sure what though? Does 11 & 21 get 4 considering it’s actually 11, 21 & 22 for 4.

Then trade 4 back to Saints for 9 & a future pick, and get back in in front of Bummers & take Phillipou anyway 😂

Maybe Essendon are open to a few players further back in draft.

Essentially they are trying to maximize the situation they have with father son being attached to pick 22.

So let’s say we do then trade up to pick 4 to grab Philipou.. would you do the trade?

Let’s summarize again

Pick 11, 39, 67, future 1st to Essendon

In exchange for

Philipou and Jones (pick 22)

In addition to that we also select George with our existing pick 21.

So to compare the pare:

Doing the trade = Philipou, Jones and George
Not doing the trade = Busslinger, George plus future 1st.
