Doesn't Tom have some close Richmond connection? Think I heard an interviewing saying he loved player movements (a la the NBA) and loved the build up/mystique/angst of it and liked the idea he might be part of that. Richmond was referred to in much the same breath. I think that move is actually pretty done and dusted 4 years out. Sorry, not sorry, GWS fans

His Grandad, Michael, played in 4 premierships for Richmond (67, 69, 73 and 74).

Olivier Northam from the Geelong Falcons. Killing it as an undersized ruck, only standing at 195cm. Could use a little growth spurt. But has a good leap and plays forward too. Is very aggressive and competitive. And has a glorious mullet.

Could be a nice forward / second ruck addition.

I’ve said this before so sorry for the “broken record “ post but these are the types we should be looking at as potential KPDs too.

I know he is rucking against crap opposition but that is why Port refused to trade Sam Hayes. They’ve done an outstanding job keeping him happy in the SANFL, developing him and now letting him loose. Outstanding work by their development and list management teams.

Strange scheduling of the U18 Vic Metro v Vic Country fixture, VD. Is it somehow tied in with the GF festival week? Or do they play it then because it's closer to the draft?

I feel like we’ve already got our decent young up and coming talls in Darcy and Ugle-Hagen. Would much rather trade than hit the draft. We need decent journeymen talls at 23-25 not 18 year olds who will take 4-7 years to get there. Surely West Coast will be looking to offload some players for picks? Maybe Geelong? I’m not expert on either list but those are the conversations I would hope we are knackers deep into right now. I trust the much vaunted WA trip involves more than just meeting with the Tim English management team.

I'm helping out in a phantom draft right now, and that's got me looking at the draft's KPD depth. I'd like to bring in a mature body, but would also be keen on someone to develop. A future back line with Darcy, the best of Khamis/Raak/Cleary, and someone like Lewis Hayes could hold us up for a decade.

Agree with this, I’ve been trade trade trade but I think we’ve missed the boat now - our core is still young, we just need a 2 year reboot and should be focusing on young talent at the draft and then we should be hitting that sweet spot where our core is genuinely in their late prime 27-28 as the experience that wins you flags, the next batch is in their early prime (Baz, Cody, Naughty etc) and the young batch is at the stage where they can compete at AFL level (Jamarra, Darcy, Buku, hopefully Jones/Bedendo etc)

That’s a much better age profile than what we’ve had as of late.

Then the fourth was a speedy fwd/mid who kicked 6 from 32 disposals last week in the NAB league. Only type of small I wanted was a goal-kicker with pace.

Ryan Eyers has been in the RookieMe team of the week multiple times this year. Key position utility, can ruck, can go fwd, but has been playing in the back line this year.

Ramsden looks good in the ruck. Derksen (KPF) is doing really well at Peel. No matter what, if we do take a pick, I seriously hope it's a tall.

I’d be okay with a genuine small forward too to be honest - I think you’re more likely to find a genuine hit with a midseason pick. First & 2nd rounders this year should be on the best talls though. But not a ******* midfielder who might make it as a pressure forward. A genuine small forward with goal sense, I don’t care if he averages 3 touches a game so long as he kicks goals!!!

Also depends where we see Darcy, if we see him forward then we’re probably set for forwards with Naughty, Bruce now even Buku, and Jamarra/Darcy below them. So a young gun key defender and another ruck are the biggest needs imo
