if we can get Lobb and Logue or Barrass over the line I’m happy to take pick 70 as our first draft pick. Dunkley leaving will be a massive pain in the middle though. Any chance GWS have another kid that might fall out in the cheap? We were linked with Callahan via Bevo last year. GWS can have our Dunkley pick for him if we can winkle him out of their albeit he isn’t the “bull” replacement we’d ideally need. I think Bont has been injured all year though so maybe next year our midfield will come good again. If so we’ll be ready to roll and looking forward to the new game plan ……
Possibility he wants out to Vic soon. Hasn’t fully settled into Sydney but a new coach etc may change that. I don’t see him leaving til end of next year.

If we get Busslinger or Hayes - it will be a good draft for us but neither will have much of an impact for two years.

For holes today we need to trade for future holes we need to draft for needs with our later 3 picks. We seem to often use these picks for general good players but I don’t agree. Last year we should have taken a young ruck or KPD like the ones picked in the mid season draft- they were there.

First is to get a quality player wherever they play - best available but OK with reaching for players like Bont who others had lower or what is likely at our pick is someone slips and we get him - like Philipou and then take him over someone of maybe higher short term need. (Perfect potential LT Bont replacement)X.

Second pick has to be about quality and contribution but bias list deficiencies - should get a good ultimately top 22 player. Often have elite attributes but are not as rounded.

We did take a young ruck last draft, Darcy, his tap work is actually very good, problem is his a beanpole and will be for another 2-3 years.

I feel like my top 5 preferences for us would be Busslinger, Ginbey, Hustwaite, George, Humphrey.

I would have Ginbey after George at four and Haynes at 5.

George is growing on me, liked what I am hearing from a non-Bulldog scout about his attitude. He wouldn’t be compatible with a few currently on our list (but hopefully they are out of here).

Absolute ideal would be Hayes with our second, he’s rated awkwardly in between our picks. George a hard worker?

More football focused was what I was told.

Not sure about hard worker, as we were talking about player red flags and list compatibility. He isn’t a fit for the current Bombers…. for us he would fit in but only IF we clean a bit of house.

I don't like Hustwaite at our first. Very smart and composed player, but I have a few too many questions over him. He's not really a physical inside type and lacks a touch of class of say a Pendlebury to be that type of player. He also doesn't hit the scoreboard much at all and isn't athletic enough to break away from stoppages and the like. Down back, he might be a bit limited with his height and probably struggles on the quicker type of forwards also. I also question how much upside he has left. Could end up being a decent player still, he just isn't one I'd want to use a 1st round pick on.

Humphrey is one I've mellowed a bit on also even though I'd still be happy with him. His kicking is a bit of a problem after seeing a bit more of him. A lot can go wrong with that ball drop of his and it does after watching a few of his games. Can get very scrappy and I see why he misses a lot of shots on goal. I do think we need to focus a bit more on better ball users.

It sucks George just got injured again also, may have done an ACL. It's probably unlikely we will take him as he hasn't played enough.

Harry Lemmey has played a bit of defence at times this year. Has looked like he has something to work with in that position - being a forward all his junior career, he could be an untapped gem back there.

He has dropped down in some draft boards, depends on who is still available and if we will still have a second round pick left to use. Lemme could be worth taking a punt on

Ethan Phillipa looks like a type worth taking a punt on with a late pick. No weight listed but certainly has enough height to match up.on the tall forwards

Reading up on him, it seems he played as a lockdown defender earlier in his career. Sounds like he really developed his intercept game this year.
