Not impossible, he's coming off a shoulder reco.

There's a chance he slides. He's had a shoulder injury and hasn't had as much exposure as some of the others. Twomey has him rated at 13 and he seems to have a bit more inside knowledge.

If that’s the case, I hope we’re all over him. Would even take with 8, if we get it, just to be sure. Kid looks a gun.

Some question marks over his speed/athleticism as well I think. A little fear he’s a McAsey or Kieran Collins type.
Busslinger is now of an interceptor, both those guys played as legit KPDs

If we want an interceptor, we could just downgrade our pick and target Weddle. Then hope Hayes gets to our second pick.

I suspect we want one early pick and just take the best available though.

I would happily draft:
Ginbey first round
Weddle second round
Magor third round
Voss fourth round

IF we lose Dunkley:
Sheezel / Busslinger / Humphrey / Hewett / Philipou / Wardlaw / Tsatas
Whoever is still there.

I don’t mind double dipping into the interceptors. Nothing wrong with guys who can intercept and dispose of the ball well. Either could become a KPD too.

Josh Weddle - has been very impressive in the air, has good defensive / offensive mix to his game and could even develop as a midfielder down the track - I’m converted.

We’ll need about 7 picks in the 8-25 range to get everyone I’m keen on in this draft at this rate.

Funny how things happen... I have a signed poster of the full dogs team of 95 in my office. And in the back row is one Sam Phillipou. Back in the day i remember a lot of good talk about him and Kym Koster joining. A couple of really good players from SA. Koster went on to be a really good player - for us and the crows. Big Sam on other hand was no good at AFL level. And now all the talk is about his son... Hopefully he'll have the career his dad was once lauded to have.

Named at CHB for the NAB league team of the year.

Struggling to find highlights of Weddle and quite a few others. No time to parse through the full NAB games either atm.

Like the sound of the write ups on Weddle.

From what I've seen of his NAB league games, they aren't as good as a couple of his games at the champs anyway. Probably a good sign he plays better against good opposition. If you get a chance, the WA vs Metro game is probably his best. Ginbey, along with Hewett were good particularly in the 1st half from memory also.

I've heard he's got four cousins who go pretty well. They go by the name of Queddle.

Couple mature age defensive options.

Ethan Phillips won the VFL medal for best young talent and was in the VFL team of the year. Turns 23 this year and is 196cm. Genuine full back option.

Stats

Rhett Montgomerie is 22 years old and 190cm. Has a state combine invite so a few clubs are keen. Plays as a 3rd tall.

Ethan Phillips sounds like a great option for us. Any idea if/when he is projected to go?

Phillips looks interesting (mostly because of his height) but it’s always so hit and miss drafting out of the VFL especially when you see blokes like Cavarra and Hayes in that same team of the year.

I place even less value on SANFL when you see blokes who dominate that competition and can’t make the next step.

Late and rookie selections are very hit and miss regardless. VFL you can get some good ones. I wanted Lachie Schultz from Freo over Cavarra that year. Even Aarts would have been better. Atkins from Geelong was also a good get that year.
