Watched abit of vision of Lachlan Cowan - Very impressed. Has a massive boot, really good size and has great burst speed. Think he’ll become a full time midfielder eventually but does have that versatility to play half back.

My only concern is being from TAS, as soon as they get a license you think they’ll go hard for any of the TAS talent.
We're just as likely to love Victorian talent (Dunkley, Ward)
Best available at our first & second round picks.

Port may take Busslinger. Some rate him very high and they need key defenders. I do think its very unlikely Philippou slides that far though.

From memory, and this is really reaching into the dusty archives of my brain, the main knock on Phillipou's dad, Sam, was his lack of leg speed. Hence, only the three games with us. I'm wondering how young Mattaes fares in that department.

First question is do we want 4 picks 11-27, or do we package 2 of them to move into the top 10?
I guess it all comes down to how we see the draft playing it & how we rate it. Personally I’m probably a bigger fan of more picks over higher picks currently as I’m completely fine with our top end talent going forward but I think we have so much deadwood and could do with a clean out & refresh, and 3-4 picks inside the top 30 would be a great way to do that.

But tbh I don’t know the draft so if the players inside that top 10 are so much better than 10-20 then sure move up, I guess it’s good these days that you can move up on the day when you know the player youre targeting is still available.

From all reports the top 7 are in 1 tier then the next tier back are all in that sort of range i'd rather get 2/3 Richards, Weightman types then 1 Bailey Smith.

Alright with Dunks nominating Brissy, let’s say we end up with 15 & 19 to go with 11 & 27, what mix of players are you taking & why?
Personally I’d rather Brisbanes future first over the McStay compo but in your situation, Humphrey, Hayes, George, Weddle would be a good and pretty realistic haul.

Athleticism isn't the issue, I would say he has above average pace. Endurance is very good too, runs a very quick 2km time trial. Also has a good leap. Issue is more performance based at this stage. Had one very good game against the Allies at the champs and then was a bit inconsistent after that (although he did get injured). He missed a fair bit of footy at the back end of the season also. There is a few questions marks on whether he can be a genuine centre starting midfielder as he seems to get thrown up forward and on a wing a bit.

I'd rather the 4 picks. The draft is very even and it will give us a better chance of rebalancing the list.
4 of the last 5 years we have had a top 9 pick with 1 and 2 in the last 2 years. We have enough of the elite tier players now we can fill out our squad with more Weightman and Richards types whilst adding another KPD and Mid

That Brisbane future first could be very valuable. I can see clubs like GWS and GC who will end up with multiple 2022 firsts being pretty keen to shift one of those into 2023.
If I had to guess I would value a Brisbane future first at about pick 10 this year.

They're an interesting one to gauge, for me personally I think they'll be similar to what they were this year and potentially get on a roll in the finals but not get close to it with Dunkley or Ashcroft. Their forward line is vastly overrated and mainly beats up on poor teams and outside of Starcevich half their back line has gone backwards and can't defend. I would feel it be in that 10-15 range again

Very optimistically- McKenzie, Gibney, Hayes, George.
Potentially gives us an elite winger with good pace and a beautiful kick, aggressive small/medium defender, developing tall defender and high quality small forward.

I think Gold coast have a couple of academy prospects who could go highly next year so late first rounders might but appeal to them as much but I wouldn't mind looking to trade later future picks for some of their second rounders.

So JJ is a yet to re-sign free agent and GCS have reportedly tabled an offer to him. We are apparently travelling north to meet face to face with GCS? Coincidence?

Could GCS front end an offer to JJ to boost our compensation as part of a broader deal?

They have all but closed the door opting for the younger Ben Long
