Phillipou? And do we have a back line in this situation with Keath and Jones both approaching retirement age?

Hahaha imagine doing that because they didn’t draft a KPDWould seriously consider not renewing my membership if they ignore our most desperate list need for a fourth year in a row.

And yes we will have a back line in 2024.
By that stage we will have traded in a couple of cheap players, plus also drafted 1-2 late in the draft.
Our entire current backline is exactly what you just described. Keath, Jones and Gardy.Where are we finding these cheap KPDs that other clubs are willing to part with, that are willing to come to us, and that will be best 22 for us?

So what happens if the club doesn’t rate the KPD In this year’s draft. Personally I wouldn’t mind if we take the best available Something that that has served the club well over the yearsWe're currently wasting a very talented list with our terrible backline setup. We have three KPDs on the list, one of whom is 32 and hasn't played for a year, one of whom is 30 and already looks cooked, and one of whom is a solid battler second tall. No youngsters developing in the role, no depth, and our previous depth players now at other clubs. Not addressing that, for a fourth draft in a row, is just straight up negligent.

I’m not sure of your overall point though. I agree we should draft a young KPD to develop but your argument about not renewing your membership if they dont as it would be wasteful to this talented list doesn’t make heaps of sense. What’s a skinny 18 year old tall going to do short term to contend? Would much rather a Jones type right now while we’re in WIN mode. Why draft someone who we can develop as a ten-year KPD, when we can just find other team's castoffs who'll be serviceable for a year or two and then be right back where we started when they drop off a cliff?
What makes you think 2023 will be a wasted year can you see in the futureThen we waste another year of Bont, Macrae, and Libba with a makeshift backline and nobody ready to step in.

AbsolutelyReally hope we go best available with our first two picks (and not just 11). I'd hate to see us use our Pick 11 on Busslinger if a Hollands/Ginbey/Mackenzie is still on the board, or pass up Jones for Van Es

Nothing wrong expressing your Frustration hopefully the club draft’s a young developing KPD. It’s a shame we lost Lewis Young after all the development the club put into him.In fairness, I'm in a shocking mood and exaggerating my frustrations. I think my renewal's already gone through anyway. "Would consider not renewing my membership" could probably be replaced with "would be seriously concerned about how the club views our list balance, play style, and future".
We've got six list spots I think, and we know two of them are going to Rowe and Sullivan. If two of the others don't go to KPDs (I’m not saying only skinny 18-year-old KPDs) I'll consider the draft/trade period a failure.
TBF our backline next year with Jones is the best it’s been in years so a draftees not gonna change that, I agree we desperately need some coming through but who knows we may see Darcy as a defender and if we do he’s better than any defender in this draft so we’ve got at least one coming through, then just need one more draftee. Then we waste another year of Bont, Macrae, and Libba with a makeshift backline and nobody ready to step in.
We definitely need to get some developing tall defenders however doing so in a draft bereft of elite tall talent is not the time to do it, will be paying an absolute premium for buss or hayes when they would go between 20-30 any other year. I'd much prefer to get a van es or Philips later and go for a high end tall talent next year when there is set to be more to choose from.
KPDs can take years to be a week in, week out proposition. Then we waste another year of Bont, Macrae, and Libba with a makeshift backline and nobody ready to step in.
There are a few athletic 'project' type KPDs tipped to go late/rookie. Ideally, we pick up a KPD & ruck at the rookie draft regardless of our 3 live selections at the draft. We definitely need to get some developing tall defenders however doing so in a draft bereft of elite tall talent is not the time to do it, will be paying an absolute premium for buss or hayes when they would go between 20-30 any other year.
