Both play the same position of third tall. Couldnt see then playing in the same team and Busslinger much better fit for us than Hayes. Busslinger plays to his physical attributes and is more suited to AFL i think

Hayes isn’t a third tall.

He is currently a second tall who could become a first tall. His game is focused on beating his opponent, while Busslinger is focused on intercept / rebound. These are different skill sets.

I would be happy with both.

Weddle is a third tall but is far more defensively minded than Busslinger. They would be similar in their early years but look like developing in different directions.

I personally see them both being able to develop into key defenders once they fill out.

Hayes in particular is going to a massive and will likely grow to over the 2m mark.

Busslinger may just be too valuable as that third tall intercept defender but definitely think he has the ability to play more accountable as well as set up play.

Hope the rumours are true and we are keen to get another pick in the first round. If Sydney were happy to part ways with 17 for Brisbanes future first I would be happy. Means we can get in 3 of

Phillipou/Busslinger/Hollands

Weddle/Konstanty/George/Jones/Hotton

It would be amazing if we could get two from that first row. They are my orders for 11 and 21.

Two pretty good players regardless but 3 would be amazing.
We won't get two from that first row, its is possible we get none but that means one of McKenzie clarke ginbey slide,

That top twelve seems pretty locked in, i think Holland's is underrated and if there should take instead of Busslinger

I don't think we trade out a future first we aren't huge risk takers as far as management is concerned and the eveness from picks 13 to 30 seems trading a future first a loss

I actually like the idea of barnett as a defender forward ruck while having sam darcy able to do the same as well English as the main ruck forward , so im hoping for hollands and barnett

Contested marking is massive advantage in afl and barnett is the best in this draft at that, he is also athletic enough to be a forward or defender just like darcy

Agreed - Really like Barnett. Huge tank for a 202cm tall. That contested marking power around the ground alongside Darcy would be huge.

Also gives us good backup for English if he does elect to leave within a few years or gets injured etc.

Need to get another developing ruck on the list and he’s the best in the draft.

I choose to believe in PMBangers’ phantom and only PMBangers’ phantom, because that has us getting Phillipou and Hayes.
I'd take that and run.

A few small forwards potentially in the range of our third pick too. I'd grab a developing tall in the rookie draft as well (a Kyle Marshall type)

I’m not sure we can fit another 202cm defender/fwd/ruck tbh, I dunno I guess we could change the game - just don’t let the ball hit the ground, contested marking beasts on every line on the ground
I’m with you as far as where/how does he fit in but I really do think has has enormous upside and partnered with Darcy could be lethal down the track.

Hollands seems like he'd be a pretty safe pick, get him on a wing to replace Hunter since his endurance and two way running is a big strength of his. Get him, put out the feelers for his brother and we could be happy.
What are his strengths? Looks a little fumbly under pressure from some of the vision I’ve seen.

I don’t think players heights should be looked at as anything more than a small part of how they fit into a side. Guys like Darcy, Jamarrah and English are extremely mobile for their heights (something Bevo clearly favours) and that needs to be taken into account.

The same can be said for some of the 200cm options this year like Barnett and Hayes.

I think by having more mobile talls we can get away with having more of them than if we had pure mark and kick style talls.

Barnett at ~21 is a good choice. He is athletic enough to play defence and can mark well enough to create rebound.

Also can be aggressive with his body work. [emoji106][emoji106][emoji106][emoji106]

In games that I’ve seen Hayes, Busslinger is more defensive minded than he is. Yes Busslinger might play more loose and impact other contensts but Hayes seems to do his best work basically a tall rebounding defender. Dont think he has a strong contested game, which sees you found out at the next level. Highly doubt he suddenly develops an appetite to want each teams gorilla in the goal square in the AFL. Seems like he would be more like Lukosious from gold coast at the next level. Not sure if he has the same Elite attributes either. Given that Busslinger already has an appetite for contest, i Could see him developing into 2nd tall, like Jake Lever but hopefully a bit better 1 on 1.

Its about locking the ball in your forward half so that your mids can rest in an attacking position across the middle of the ground, instead of sprinting back and forward all game and tiring because we cannot lock the ball in. Unless they take the mark, all of Jamarra, Darcy and English dont provide that pressure, Marra should develop it as his tank improves but its not there yet. This is why Weightman desperately needs a wingman and why I hope Konstanty slides to our third selection (which looks unlikely at this point).

Yeah it was more out of hope than any logic that I wanted two out of that top line. We need to draft for people to conpliment current team, we are only a few pieces away. Barnett compliments the team 4-5 years away, when hopefully we have a lot more than 5 premiership players still on the list because we have made the most of current list potential. I like Barnett and if we do get him I wont be sad. Just think he is a luxury when we have some glaring needs who also could be considered best available.

At what point does the AFL step in and go "no, you're not allowed to do backroom deals to stop other teams from bidding on father-sons?"

Everyone knows what's happening and it's abundantly clear that it happened with Daicos last year as well. And it happened with Viney in 2012 as well.

We cross live now to AFL House...

Herald Sun reports that Dogs are keen on Davey Jr and Michalanney

Michalanney in particular would be a really good pick up, if the Crows passed on him then I'd be happy with him at 21.
