My bet is we pick Ed Allan. Bev has spent the past few years really looking for more pace in the side. Late bloomer, raw talent. The smoke linking him and us seems stronger than the loose "Dogs interested in defender and wingman because they need those players" stuff elsewhere re: Hollands/Buss.

It would be a very us pick.
I expect it comes down to Hollands, Allen or Buss with our first pick.
I expect one of our picks will be a KPD (even a reach for Phillips with our second) and a small forward true with our third (Leary). Let's see how close I get next week

Would we double dip in the speed category and take D Jones too?
IF he is there at pick 21, I don’t see why not.

Jones' contest to contest running and ball use would suit us well.

I wonder if we could trade our pick 39 up to GWS' pick 31 with a future pick? That would put us in Ethan Phillips range, ahead of the Port/St Kilda/North picks where he's likely to be taken.

Twomey seems to think Phillips would be more late-rookie.

I believe Phillips will be there at 39. Whether dogs take him though is another story.

Don't think we can carry a 2nd diminutive player think our quota is maxxed out with Caleb.

I decline to get into my thoughts on Caleb here.

Jones bases his game on speed and getting to as many contests as possible. Very different players. Height matters less when you have elite speed.

Ed allen was out for months with back injury, which has been well documented.

But got to remember too this is after he has missed 2 years of footy with COVID.

So what I’m saying is that things havnt gone his way with being able to showcase his abilities earlier then he would have wanted.

It’s a risky selection, but his upside is massive.

I expect us to take a winger, mid forward / small forward and a KPD; in that order.

IF Hollands and Allan are gone, then Ginbey or Humphrey will be available at our first pick.

George, Hotton, Konstanty, Jones & Clarke will be around our next pick.

Van Es or Phillips for the last pick.

Not that this excites me but I don’t know how the players are like off field, so I can’t make a complete judgment on their draft worthiness.
I'd be happy with this outcome

I still worry about players "lacking" strength. Feel we have to many of those. For years now I have watched games and seen the ball kicked long to a one on one contest, and watch as our players get rag dolled to the side, and the opposition player either marks the ball or runs off to the races. We lose the marking stats almost every week. Players with strong body strength, and stronger hands in the air would be nice. Was watching Reid shove aside Hayes twice his height a couple of times in the NAB game and thinking, wish we had more players who can do that.

Going by the latest reports and rumors, I feel the top six is pretty much near set.

1. GWS: Cadman
2. BRIS: Ashcroft
3. NORTH: Wardlow
4. NORTH: Sheezel
5. ESS: Phillipou
6. SUNS: Humphery

I think who the Hawks now have the biggest pick in the draft. Who they take out of Tsatas, Clark, or another. Will determine who slips to our pick and shape the flow of the draft between their pick and ours.

Picture him with his power and speed beside English, Bont, Smith etc

Also tactically his height on wing will help with the back line to forward line transition
Yeah I’m more than happy to back our recruiters in if they think the development potential is there, they’ve done a very good job in recent years. If they believe they can bring out his obvious attributes in game then he’s a no brainer really. It’s the sort of upside pick that Dal nailed on a regular basis, hell if you mentioned Bont 6 months out from his draft he probably read similarly - low floor, high upside, tall flanker with nice athletic attributes but no real high production midfield minutes - but we saw what he could become. Whilst I’d love to slot Hollands onto a wing in round 1 if we think Allen will be the better wingman in 5 years time well he picks himself.

We’ve desperately tried to find some height on the wing trialing the likes of Hannan and Jong etc through there so it’s obviously an asset that we desire - a mixture of Baz/Treloar, Allen, Williams and Bedendo occupying the HFF/Wings would bring a nice mixture of running power, marking ability, height and long, raking disposal we haven’t had on our wings in a long long time

The more I see of Luke Teal the more I like. Would love to take him even if it is at our second pick. 190cm lockdown defender capable of playing tall or small who can also run out of defence and pinpoint a pass.

I like him, but reckon he'd make it to our third pick. Would be good value there.

Slowly coming to terms with the fact that a lot of the players I like will be running around for Essendon, GWS, Sydney, WC, Collingwood and Carlton next year.

Still confident we get two good players at 11 and 21 regardless of what happens.

Macrae's brother playing for Collingwood sucks.

Obviously not a huge call, but I'd be surprised if Clark, Tsatas and Ginbey aren't all top 10 in one combination or another.

Buss, Hollands, Allan. One of them makes it to 12.

Hewett and MacKenzie seem to be both well in the Hawthorn mix too, so we might well have a choice.

I’m starting to come around to Allen as that winger. Imagine a 195cm, agile, elite 20m sprint winger. If he gets a decent tank then he could be the bees knees. Had a stress fracture in his back and only played 6 games. Huge ceiling, low floor potentially but can see us backing him in if we like his character
How is he overhead and in the contest? Given what happened with Darcy I’m nervous these kids grow another inch or two which puts him in KPP territory.
