West Coast need players, starting a rebuild.
Melbourne traditionally grade future picks to get into a draft rather than the other way round.
I like the idea but it would be a hard ask in practice

Hard to warm to Baker. He's reportedly got speed but not much else. Two Rookie spots open, Dogs will draft one and sign Baker to the second spot
What is the higher ceiling based off?Reckon Allan has a higher ceiling, plus a better outside game which is what we lack. Given that we don’t need a round 1 ready mid, and can put some time into development, I’d prefer Allan.
The SSP thing confuses me a little bit. Surely there is not a high chance of 'missing out' on these kinds of players (and it wouldn't make that much of a difference if you did), and as delisted players it is hard to believe they are categorically better than every player that will be available at your rookie selection. So why not wait 'til the rookie draft and see who's on the board? Two Rookie spots open, Dogs will draft one and sign Baker to the second spot
Absolutely, if Phillips is there as a rookie and we take baker I'll lose my mind. The SSP thing confuses me a little bit. It's that weird thing where a lack of exposure can sometimes help a player, and exposed good form can be discounted. What is the higher ceiling based off?
From what I've seen and read Alan has tested fast but doesn't really show it in games where McKenzie has shown an ability to burst away from packs.
Alan is slightly taller than the 188 cm McKenzie but that doesn't necessarily mean he plays tall or is good overhead.
Aside from that McKenzie is the best kick in the draft, can win hard balls, can accumulate and use it in the outside.
I'm not disagreeing, because it seems like clubs are really in to Alan, just wondering why.
It's kind of like you could have a luxury yacht or a mystery box which could even be a luxury yacht!
The talk of possibly doing draft day trades excites me. Do we move up or down? In or out?
Sounds like we already have it all planned out and have settled on the players we want.
Only four more sleeps to go.
Every club wants to move up it seems - perhaps we'll move a pick back a few spots and pick up extra future picks? The talk of possibly doing draft day trades excites me. Do we move up or down? In or out?

Those pick will be 4 picks apart after Brisbane's 4 picks dissolve.Every club wants to move up it seems - perhaps we'll move a pick back a few spots and pick up extra future picks?
I think we're in a decent spot to move 39 up to GWS' 31 as of they don't get a good deal for pick 19 they may not use 31 anyway.
This I don’t understand. Why wouldn’t a player, to give themselves the best chance of getting drafted, nominate for the rookie draft too? What is so special about the SSP? If a player is thought to be good enough to be selected we would take him in the rookie draft. Does ability increase just by being in the SSP? Is it just because the SSP is later and we need that time to suddenly see a hole in our list?"At the moment, we've got two rookie selections. We'll probably potentially pick with one of those and then pass the other one for the SSP," Milesi told NAB AFL Draft Countdown on Thursday afternoon.

I hope the club finds a lot more in him than the commentary I've read.
I suspect we will know who our first pick is when cal twomey releases his phantom draft, he has a good strike rate and knowledge with those top 20 picks or soThat Herald Sun phantom is pretty gross. Taking Allan when McKenzie is still on the board is awful. I don't mind George at 21, but not if our 11 is someone as speculative as Allan
Can’t see the saints passing on him since he has come through their academyPassing on McKenzie would be a tough pill to swallow
