Been on the fence, but this rules Heeney out for me now:

Contrary to the article title, it actually highlights how Heeney will still play forward at times. Bye bye Heeney and bye bye Horse - no players from the Swans this year brings me a sigh of relief 😂

Interesting. I think maybe you were less on the fence than you think and actually on the No Heeney side waiting for a reason not to pick him

Nothing about that article says avoid to me.

1 lie about not being full time mid that involved no quotes

Honestly, he's been in my team most of the pre-season - before alot of his midfield increase became widespread knowledge.

Been really keen on him given his price and his ability - but it's these couple of sentences that make me think it's not a permanent midfield move, but rather, increased stints in there rotating with others:

"There's no suggestion Heeney will plonk himself into the midfield on a full-time basis, although that's where he's trained most during pre-season."

...

Parker said Sydney had been tinkering with its combinations, including pushing himself and Josh Kennedy into forward and wing rotations to keep fresh legs on the ball."

***********

Given the huge availability of underpriced forwards we have at our disposal, it's tough to pick someone like him without a guarantee that he will be a perma mid- given how injury prone he can be as well.

It's a big risk to take, and one that's burnt a lot of us before, so without absolute surety, I'm much less keen than I was prior to the practice match.

That 1st quote you made wasn’t a quote but the journalists own spin.

And is anyone expecting he would have enough mid time to say he a mid only next year? Personally no, a 65-70% mid role (still dpp) is ample for a guy who usually averages 90s with the opposite split.

The 2nd quote just shows how they have plans to accommodate him in there, making it more real than less

That’s just my take

Also, how many of those underpriced fwds will be Full time mids themselves?
None.

I don't know why anyone expected Heeney to be a full time mid. Of course he will still play significant minutes up fwd, but he averages 90 odd in his better years as predominately a fwd. With an increase in midfield minutes I don't see why he couldn't still yet push triple figures.

Loves a tackle too

I still want to know where the fu** Heeney went for the second half of the game on 60 to half time then ****
Questionable stats for mine. Plenty of guess work given that many have said they could hardly see the field let alone the players. My guess is that Warner got all Heeney's stats. The take home for me is that the midfiekd role is there (pending Mills return).

I honestly think people are just scarred from previous experiences with Heeney so they’re not seeing how low-risk he really is this year. Thankfully I’ve hardly ever owned him before because being a Swans supporter and watching a lot of their games I never really trusted the role, so I can bring a reasonably un-biased opinion…

He is priced at 76. Worst case even if he keeps the same old mostly-forward role he goes at 90 if he’s injury free and having an uninterrupted pre season (which he is, for the first time in a while). Better case he gets just a little more time in the middle - not a permanent mid role by any means but just extra stints - particularly if Mills is managed to start the year. Bumps him up to a 95 average and 19 points upside. Best case he plays a LOT more midfield with occasional stints forward (where he does impact the scoreboard anyway) and bumps that average to 100 plus. I’m not totally sold on this scenario yet, but I do think it’s possible, and the noises are eerily similar to Mills last year which none of us believed either.

It’s the definition of no-risk given even the worst case sees him go considerably above the 76 he’s priced at. People are just choosing not to see it because he’s burnt them before.

Don’t let old biases override new information, that would be my take.

Doesn't help the stream gave my all the nausea haha

Who to leave out (x2)?

Heeney, Butters, Cogs , Weller or Thomas
All quality players. I get these conundrums every year and feel the only solution is pick them all and roll with it if you think some are unmissable.
DPP helps with some.

Look at the draw for the first few weeks for the players in question. Leave 2 out based on match ups and try to upgrade to them if you still need it.

Weller is a lock!!!!! Said it before and will say it again. He is the only ball user for the suns, he took 11 kick outs and played on 9 of them, he also gets the handball receive back from the person he kicks it to.

No one seagulled in the whole Suns port game because it was super wet.

I'm surprised everyone was going on about having the role and CBA's for the practice games but now the stats are out everyone only cares bout the numbers. (Disclaimer: May not be everyone, just annoyed) same going for Rowell. Getting 11 CBA's and full time midfield role averaging 55!!! but people aren't blinking for Hewett & Brodie who also have 10% of fantasy scoring
