I figured it might be time to start this thread.
Ive got the following
R12 18 playing.
R13 21 playing.
R14 18 playing.
R12 seems the difficult round this year for me. I can trade to improve round 14 during the byes.
As we all know a lot can happen between now and then.

No matter what plans you have got in place the SC gods will put paid to them.

So in other words

I agree to a point.
I never pay attention to byes with the premos I bring in.
But the rookies I am bringing in the next few weeks will most likely still be in my team come round 12.
I reckon it matters more for rookie picks.

I'm on
R12 - 18 playing
R13 - 19 playing
R14 - 23 playing

Round 12 team byes are Carlton, Essendon, GWS Giants, Port Adelaide, Richmond, St Kilda.

I plan to address my R12 shortfall by upgrading D Rioli to a premo defender, and replacing S Hayes and Wanganeen-Milera when they've earned enough $.

I think you might have double-counted one of your players, dude?

Haven't really given them much though. Have taken a look at my player spread and it seems fine

I'll bring in a premo defender in a couple of weeks, and I'll make sure it's not a rd12 bye player, as I already have 4 defenders out from that round

Aside from that, feck em

That is how many I can get on the field.
I am a bit lopsided.

Yeah ok, so in terms of the amount I can actually have on the field, I'm on:
R12 - 18
R13 - 18
R14 - 22

If I can upgrade Rioli to a R12-friendly premo, and trade Wanganeen-Milera and Hayes for R12 friendly rookies, then I should be well placed.

We’re going to need some luck fur a round 12 friendly playing ruck rookie to appear at the right time.

Feck the byes it is what it is

Its round 9 this week and most likely atleast 8 trades before round 12
your not going to sacarifce the player you want for another just for the bye

e.g in the next 3 weeks i will have Steele , MaCrae , Gawn & Bont coming into my team why would i take a player thats inferior
and the rookies are most likely will be 80% same in all teams

I've got a few rookies I want to hold to their byes - even if they are not at peak value - so I can field them when I need to then upgrade to post-bye premos.

Those candidates at the moment are:

Rowell - could still increase in value, much safer than a rook on-field. Turn him into perhaps a fallen Walsh (coming off the bye) at his Round 13 bye.
JHF - I think he can find a bigger score some time soon. Turn him into Mills (coming off the bye) at his Round 14 bye. Finish midfield.
Daicos - safe on-field option. Turn him into Stewart (coming off the bye) at his Round 14 bye. Finish backline.

That would be the cleanest way through to get to luxury upgrade season and wring every bit of usefulness out of the rooks/stepping stones.

Round 12 and 14 I’m fine player wise. Round 13 will be the round where it’ll be a few trades for sure.

I haven’t been paying attention to my total player numbers but I’ve been looking to get an even spread of keepers playing across the three rounds. At the moment I’ve got:

Round 12: 11 + Daicos
Round 13: 14 + Daicos, Preuss and Martin
Round 14: 10 + Martin and Preuss

I think round 14 can be fixed during the byes so at the moment with my upgrades I’m leaving guys who have the round 12 bye.

First time I’ve tried to actually plan for the byes, what are your thoughts on this strategy?
