Next Tweet Kay had was about his article he wrote when he visited Saudi Arabia in September and explains why the Saudi PIF bought Newcastle.

Oliver Kay

More on Saudi football culture in this piece re the Newcastle takeover. We can all question and criticise PIF’s motives for buying a Premier League club — ok, some won’t— but do not underestimate the passion for football among the Saudi people

Wow, so this is guy is saying that Saudi Arabia isn't quite the same as a micro slave state where almost 90% of the population is comprised of migrants from countries that don't particularly care about soccer?

Where can we nominate him for a Pulitzer for this groundbreaking insight?

There's a lot of criticism levelled at a lot of Middle Eastern nations around their involvement in football and he's making the point that they aren't all the same, is that alright?

I look forward to his next hard hitting piece on why the Earth isn't actually flat.

I never thought they all were, Saudi's have been qualifying regularly for World Cups since 94. Amazing all their players are domestic based too.

If this game stays a draw, the Saudis could not have had a more perfect day. And Argentina will still qualify for knockouts.

Looked like a pen to me. Surprising we only saw one angle considering they supposedly have more camera's than normal.
