Some massive beatdowns for the minnow teams. San Marino done 10-0, Liechenstein 9-0, Kazakhstan 8-0.

IMO there should be a group with Andorra, San Marino, Liechenstein, Gibraltar & Malta with the winner of the group going into the next round of qualifying.

Seems pointless having a NT suffering constant thrashings all the time.

This morning's England game was a joke. It was like watching a pre-season training game between a Premier League team and a local amateur club to give everyone a bit of a run. Except we are in the middle of a busy season.

Your suggestion makes sense. It would mean UEFA qualifying would have 10 groups of 5 countries rather than a hotchpotch of 5 and 6, and cut out 2 meaningless games for each country that would have been in a 6 group.

Just imagine the fallout if someone like Harry Kane copped a serious injury in a game like this.

Could have sent England U18 in reality to do the job.

Haaland won't be at the World Cup with Norway not being able to get into a playoff spot. They were flying with him but not having him for their last 4 games hurt.

Amazing campaign from Scotland to finish on 23 points. Would have topped a lot of groups and resulted in Automatic qualification but faced with
a Denmark team at the top of their game.

A seeding and home playoff is massive and the spirit this group has will hopefully see them through. Would be fully deserved 🤞
Yes they have done well, but in any other group there would have still been one highly ranked team that they would have needed to get past to qualify automatically.

Playoffs will be interesting. Only 3 spots available and you have teams like Portugal, Italy, Poland, Sweden in the mix. Going to be at least one top 20 in the world team missing out.

I’d say they are more likely to make it than not. They are 1st in a group of 8 and they finish against Honduras (8th), USA (2nd), El Salvador (7th), Costa Rica (5th), Jamaica (6th) and Panama (4th). Canada would need a monumental choke job not to qualify outright in the top 3.

It really would be a great story for Canada given this is the first time they've even made the final qualifying stage since 1998 let alone their only appearance in a World Cup being in 1986.

It would be awesome seeing Canada at the World Cup next year. And they will also be their in 2026 as one of the hosts, with USA and Mexico.

Canada are a decent team these days. Davies is a world class talent, Jonathan David played a key role in Lille beating PSG to the title and Larin is also very handy banging them in for Besiktas. Plus they're also simply gelling as a team. They should qualify from here, even if they fall to 4th. They have us and NZ well covered.

If you ever want to know why soccer is such a laughing stock look at the game recently where alleged 'hardman' Zoltan or whatever he is called did a cowards act on a bloke that wasn't looking, didn't connect but didn't stop his victim pretending he was mortally wounded and then Zoltan acted as if he was pushed into him and feigned being hurt: can't believe grown men carry on like that

The inter-confederation playoff would also contain the 5th placed team from South America. Canada really don’t want to be going into that playoff because of the potential to draw the South American nation in a two legged playoff to qualify.

South America is the weakest I remember it being. If Canada can beat Mexico (and draw with them away), then they I'd back them to get past someone like Peru or even Colombia.

It shouldn’t matter in the end because they should be qualifying in the top 3 with a remaining fixture list like the one they have.

Looking ahead to the late January/Early February qualification dates.
We can see South Korea, Iran, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Canada, USA and Ecuador all qualify.

But that's mathematically.

I'll leave Jan 30 (CONCACAF), Feb 1 (AFC, CONEMBOL) and Feb 2 (CONCACAF) scenerios until closer to the time (as Jan 27 results will effect that), however, on January 27 the following teams can qualify

Iran can qualify with a win over Iraq OR a draw with Iraq AND a UAE draw with Syria OR a Syria win against UAE
South Korea can qualify with a win over Lebanon AND UAE losing to or drawing with Syria
