It's not a terrible draw. Shame about playing Melb and essendon twice.. meanwhile, Carlton only play 1 top 8 side twice - GWS .. Not sure that's how it should work lol

But Eagles, GWS, Port in melb.
Suns, Crows (1 game), freo, Lions and sydney interstate.
Well Carlton perennially suck so maybe it’s a carry over affect from there overall suckiness

If I've done my dates right, the Sydney Roosters are scheduled to play at the SCG on the Saturday afternoon, the round we've been scheduled to play the Swans there.

Friday night game incoming.

Although we do get 5 away games at the MCG, so we can hardly scream tough draw.
14 games MCG. (9H & 5A)
3 games Marvel (2H & 1A)
5 games Interstate (5A)
This has been our fixture every year (non covid impacted) since the GC and GWS expansion.

Part of arrangement is to have a 'Docklands' blockbuster against a Marvel and then get the random Pies v Eagles at the Dome.

Better that then selling em to NT I guess, if you want to still get along.

Pros ... Two Friday nights, a Thursday night, Anzac Day and a big Saturday night clash with the Cats in the first nine rounds, even though they finished 17th? Collingwood’s finance department will be loving this... just one trip outside of Victoria in the first nine rounds and another five weeks at home after that... just one trip to SA, WA and NSW ... two games against three fellow bottom six teams.

Cons ... All that primetime love could also expose them if they’re not actually any good ... a rough end to the season with four games against 2021 finalists in the last five weeks ... they’d hate to be the team Carlton beats in the last round to get into the finals.

Grade: B+

The last sentence --- They really had to go and say that...

On the flip side imagine we beat them to stop them making finals!

I've been to somewhere between 150 and 200 games in my life and not once have I ever seen the Sydney Swans live. Not once. Come on AFL, at least give us a double up so you can keep the marquee SCG game too
yeah, how hard is it just let us play them twice, they still get their SCG game.

Just like we when basically a nail in richmond's finals hopes this year.

Haha true. The only thing better than doing that to Carlton's finals hopes would be for them to be out of the running before they play us in Round 23.

In the end, a draw is a draw, you still have to win.

Will all depend if they'll prioritize youth development or experience. One will win you games, the other is your future and will need to be blooded with games. Given we are in rebuild mode, realistically it should be the former. Or a mixture of both. We are kinda stuck in between.

Looks like our corporate team has inadvertently leaked fixture times/dates for games beyond Round 9...

Okay here we go again. I am looking for posters that would like to put their hand up to preview the games.
Personally I really enjoyed the different views of all who contributed and believe that it added to our forum.

Thanks to all that put themselves out before and am happy for you to volunteer again.

After not being allowed to attend much footy it’s disappointing our preseason game proper is interstate. At the same time though in a normal year I believe these games are a good opportunity to play in non Melb markets.

It was great when each team played 3 official practice matches and they played them at regional or suburban grounds rather than Marvel.

Now days you don't even get to see the draftees play in them, because there is only one genuine hit out before Rd 1 and the senior squad needs the game time.
