I always pick the playing rookies - chances are someone will get dropped or rested or injured and will provide a loop opportunity.
Or, pick your favourite loop option, VC someone in the first round, and if they score well, include the loop?

Let the gods decide.

Yeah very likely I put the VC on Jackson Macrae and see how that goes.

What are peoples thoughts on taking a donut to loop from round 1? Assuming we have a choice as there are enough rookies playing round 1.

I keep changing my mind as it's great to help with rookie roulette (I did it last year to get Guiden's first round tonne), but is it better to have an extra chance at a good rookie?

There is always a rookie or two that spuds it and gets drops so loops soon appear.
Normally I have one .....but with the potential implications of CoVid, IMO we need as many "live" bodies as possible ....that said, by extension CoVid Protocols could deliver the loop players we need anyway

I actually did it during Round 1 last year. I had Rowe Emergency and after his 100 I wanted that score the only player I could trade out at that stage was Gulden > Ely Smith. Obviously the week after I wasted a trade to get Gulden back.

Yeah I traded Bruhn to O'ea to get Gulden's score. That was probably a win as I think Bruhn got dropped quickly. Depends on the rookies I guess.

Was just curious on opinions.

I remember I already played other rookies so wouldn't have got his score I think that's why I traded him.

Cheers mate! I'm really impressed with how its all come together. A SC specific one will be dropping over the weekend.. me and Selby should be putting out at least one a week from here on.

Love the way you can search for a player, then easily switch from AFL Fantasy to SC stats for that player....spent a lot of time on the site this morning ....going to take a while to master all the search function options

And so user-friendly too

Unless we end up with 15+ options that all look amazing I will definitely be taking Ned Long as my 102k loop.

Last year was the only time I didn't, and I ended up starting with Harry Sharp, who was banished almost immediately and was useless for loopholing most week, even with DPP.

Always happy to use 4 trades over the first 2 weeks to correct any rookie selection errors.

Yeah a Hawthorn player is a good option, along with North they'll have plenty of Sunday games.

The extra trades do help, can burn a couple on getting the right rookies if necessary.

Hawks are definitely better for the rounds we know already.
And I'll be starting Titch so that makes it even more of a no brainer.
If we also get Maginness as a FWD rookie that would make it even better.

50/50 Mid/Fwd split probably what we should expect from him during the season. Best suits his skillset and current aerobic capabilities.
It would be Rayner or Coleman for me. They play different positions, but I'm not keen on having too many from the same team if possible.

Speaking of too many from the same team, my current breakdown;

Crows 1
Lions 3
Blues 1
Pies 4
Bombers 2
Dockers 2
Cats 1
Suns 1
Giants 1
Hawks 2
Dees 1
Roos 2
Power 3
Tigers 0
Saints 1
Swans 2
Eagles 2
Dogs 1

If the only other Lion you have is Neale then starting both Kiddy & Rayner is not that much of a problem since both are stepping stone selections. If luck should have it and they both catch the rona at the same time, look at it as your que for a 1 up and 1 down. So long as it isn't in the first few rounds*
