With Toby back, Surely Binga comes in and we no longer have an issue in that area?
We've had two small/ general forward injuries this year in Stone and Daniels and it's stood out amongst all else imo, even if we don't get someone that is clear best 22 we need depth, preferably someone that'll challenge for a spot so a player like Hill can't coast through and still get selected every week

  • Toby has a tendency to get suspended
  • Binga has a tendency to get injured
  • Dan Lloyd has a longer term injury
  • Connor Stone has just come off an injury
  • Bobby has a tendency to to be lazy ... plus he may leave at end of year

Getting a small/medium forward on a 6-month trial (if someone happened to have a LTI) would seem to me just a smart way of maximising opportunity given the totality of those circumstances. Or could be someone in another position if deemed worthwhile.

I guess that was my point, the perceived lack of depth is due to an unusual amount of injuries in the one position.
I don't think it is a huge area of need.
If best available is a small forward, I'm all for grabbing them, but I don't think we need to go too far out of our way for a small forward.
I think outside class would be my most needed area. I think they have hopes for all of Angwin, Wehr and Fahey to be that, but none have proven themselves at the highest level yet.

What are your thoughts on prying a Melbourne player out at the end of the year? At the moment they have Weideman & Tom McDonald vying for the same spot as a KPF. Also another option would be one of their small forwards to replace Hill at the end of the year. I liked the look of Toby Bedford who is fighting for a spot with other gun smalls Melbourne have and only got a game because of Covid ruling out some players. He has been their medi-sub from round 1-6 so obviously thought of highly by the Melbourne team.

Seems pretty unlikely they leave a winning team unless they are offere a bucket load of cash or they are a fringe player

I don't think any of those guys are better than we have.

Bedford is one I'd be keen to grab if it came cheap, probably not as great offensively than what we already have but undoubtedly an upgrade in defensive pressure.

If we're in a position to trade in talent it's still all in on Elijah Hollands for me

I'd love Holland, surely the Sun's are no chance to let him go.

Hey Bangers mate, have we got any academy prospects looking alright this coming year?

Angus Curry (Small Midfielder) and Luke Lawrence (Medium Midfielder/ Forward) are the two that jump out, Curry is a tenacious kid despite being just 176cm, tackles hard and lives forbtge defensive stuff around stoppages. Lawrence has played more midfield this year but long term I think he's a forward, sound skills with decent speed and leap, but his agility and ability to move through traffic is the highlight of his game. Similarly to Curry he's really good defensively too

nice. Both later picks you think? 40+ to rookie selections?

Hard to say on Lawrence, for NSW based kids it's really the Champs that'll confirm their spot in the order, but I have him around 30 in my own rankings currently (granted I've got a soft spot for Northern Academy boys). Curry's size works against him unfortunately, but playing for Oakleigh and Wesley means he's always in front of recruiters, he's more 40+ for me but definitely worth a ND spot

Also what are your thoughts on the 2 West Adelaide key forwards?
Lemmey is the real deal, hasn't gotten a good run this year with H&S protocols unfortunately but reminds me a bit of Josh Kennedy as a specialist lead up forward. I might be going an early crow here but I think he's the best KPF prospect we've seen since the King twins, nothing in his game gives me "bust potential".
Scully is hard to judge, most of his opponents have been 193 or shorter so he's hasn't been properly challenged like Lemmey or even Jefferson from Vic. In saying that, 33 goals in 5 games is impressive no matter the situation, he's another that plays as a lead up forward and has a strong set of hands, been playing mostly out of the goal square so hopefully we see him push up the ground and start to get involved with more than forward 50 entries

Wonder what the going rate for someone like Rankine would be clearly a super talent and Caruso even said they would've taken him over Walsh, maybe a new situation would help get the best out of him. Not someone I'd be moving heaven and earth for but would be someone I'd look into, similar issues to Bobby in that he radically fades in and out of games but I'm a big believer in the talent.

Yeah, I have liked what I have heard about Lemmey. Best since King twins sounds like the Giants need to move heaven and earth to make sure we land him. We should have some pretty good trade / draft capital by the end of the year in order to try get a top 3 pick if that's where you think he will go?
Looking at North Melbourne and West Coast the 2 teams most likely to finish bottom 2 it would seem they both are crying out for quality midfielders so it would make sense that he would land 3+ and talls tend to drift a bit more in the draft.

Fahey is most likely… it’s still sooo early for him. Elite runner and kick…. Looking positive.

If we traded Taranto for Dusty. Sent picks to West Coast for Barrass and Willi Rioli.. and assuming Bobby goes.

Haynes Barrass Idun
Cumming Taylor Whitfield
Kelly Cogs Callaghan
Toby HH Bruhn
Rioli Hogan Daniels

Preuss Green Dusty

Hopper Flynn Perryman Stone/Ward

(What salary cap?)

Oh, and we have Clarko coaching them…

I like the look of Fahey a lot. Surprised Cooper got ahead of him.
Adam Kennedy has been good since returning...apart from the hack panic kicks around the corner

Very different players. We needed a small defender who could lock down. Coopers a strong body for a young player. Exceptional runner, and very accountable.
Fahey has a fair bit of work to build his body up. To his credit, his running has become elite and he is an exceptional kick. He will get his turn soon enough.

Would be pretty awesome if the Giants somehow picked up Cooper's twin brother in a rookie draft at the end of the year. Cooper just seems so down to earth in the Perryman mould. No nonsense footballers with a lot of smarts and gets the job done very efficiently

How's everyone feeling about Bruhn's odds of re-signing these days, think we all love the player and want him long term but think he might feel squeezed out and will look for better opportunity elsewhere which is hard to blame him. Maybe a new coach coming in at the end of the year is able to convince him of how needed he is on this team and that he'll be able to nail down a spot in the squad. If I had to guess atm I'd probably say he leaves but really hope I'm wrong.

Have a nagging feeling he will request a move back to VIC and Geelong.
