Before we get into the inevitable highs and lows of finals I thought it worth acknowledging the performance of JLo and the team in this H&A season. A season that:

- is the fourth best in our club’s history from a win/loss perspective and a percentage perspective (and the best non-Lyon coached season ever)

- will see us finish only half a game off second place

- has seen us win eight and draw one away from home; including wins away to Geelong and Melbourne

- has seen us have five players in the 22 under 22 squad

- will likely see us have a top 3 Brownlow finisher

- beat the Eagles twice

- two rising star nominations

- at least three goal of the week winners

All this with one of the youngest lists in the comp and with a minimal contribution from Fyfe and diminishing impact from Mundy and Walters.

Regardless of how the finals series goes - this has been one hell of a year and the future is looking really bright.

Well done to everyone at the club.

It is the final morning of the H&A season and we are in third position. A 7-1-2 on the road record (8-1-2 if you count the away derby) including the scalps of the top 2. If all goes well today we finish top 4 and get a free hit at Geelong (potentially minus Cameron) in two weeks time.

Pretty incredible really.

2022 was a revalation for Freo, our draft picks generally performed well and those who have been around for a few years continued their development.

Our journeyman pick ups from other clubs have mostly been excellent with quite a few having career best seasons.

The veterans have had a bit of a mixed year form and fitness wise but we don't rely on them to the same extent as recent seasons.

The availability of players has improved out of sight compared to the past few seasons.

The coaching staff have established a viable game plan and seem capable of getting the players to buy into it.

Freo are a young side and there is plenty of upside to come with further development of the list. Our biggest area of concern is the forward line (still)

We have made significant steps towards having a team and a game that can contend for the next five plus years. The future is bright.
