Rory Sloane (knee) season
Paul Seedsman (concussion) ongoing

Small forward Lachlan Murphy is set to be available to play Brisbane this weekend after suffering a neck injury in Sunday’s loss to Carlton.

Murphy was involved in a collision in the third quarter and was subbed out of the game at three-quarter-time.

He had a precautionary scan on Monday which cleared him of serious damage and he is set to train with the main group on Wednesday.

“Lachlan had a pretty heavy collision on the weekend and experienced some neck pain, and given his history we were all a little bit concerned,” High Performance Manager Darren Burgess said.

“We put him through an MRI and he was cleared of any serious damage there, so we expect him to train tomorrow and be available on the weekend.

“He’s walking around and doing everything in the gym and we expect no issues with him.”

Dr Jones and Partners Injury Update: R9

Crows High Performance Manager Darren Burgess gives the weekly injury update.
Key forward Riley Thilthorpe has cleared the AFL’s health and safety protocol and is expected to be available for selection this weekend.

“He completed a full session on both Wednesday and Friday last week and he will be in normal training and be available for selection,” Burgess said.

Brodie Smith and Ned McHenry are also both expected to be available in line with the AFL’s concussion protocol timeline following the Round 7 loss to GWS.

First-year midfielder Zac Taylor is also set to return from a broken thumb this week.

“Zac has worked really hard on his conditioning with Jarryd Wallace, Josh Manuel and Tim Parham and given it was a thumb fracture he was able to complete a whole heap of (training) which is pleasing, so he’s available for selection and is really looking forward to getting back playing,” Burgess said.

Captain Rory Sloane is out of the knee brace and has started his rehabilitation exercises after undergoing a knee reconstruction.

“He’s been fantastic, the brace is off and he’s working through the unfortunately frustratingly slow process of rehab but he’s doing everything that we’re asking and more,” Burgess said.

Weeks without any info about Seedsman is a worry. Not even a generic sentence.

LFC,
I think the same applies for seedsman and Murphy.. Both have had injuries that can seriously impact their life post footy, time to give it up for their own best interests I feel.

On Murphy from the clubs pov, we shouldn't be playing Murphy if he is a chance to go out with a neck injury in any given game he becomes a liability

Surely a decision on Seedsman's playing future has to be close? its the halfway point of the season next week and he is in the same position as he was back in Jan/Feb.

With a concussion lasting so long, he could never play again. The club could never risk it.
Are they going to wait until the end of the season and then make an announcement ?

In that unfortunate instance, I'd prefer prior to our last home game so we could give him a proper send off.

Patty McCartin is for Sydney... but agree it's looking highly doubtful.

I think McCartin playing is a scary situation.
The other week I saw him get a knee to the head and he had to come off.
I hope Seedsman doesn't try and come back just for his safety
And I'm sure the club hasn't forgotten the Sam Shaw situation too.

What's the go with Butts? Not playing but not on the injury list. COVID? Any word on a return date? Would have been nice to have him for King on the weekend, and not looking forward to taking on Cameron / Hawkins without him this week.

It was well advertised that hes been out with Covid. Came out of ISO Saturday Morning which wasnt enough time to have him fit and ready from Saturday Night. Should be right to go this week as long as there is no long covid hanging about.

Ah right, thanks. I've had stuff going on the past couple of weeks so hadn't seen any news or even watched the last couple of matches until I went to the Saints game on Saturday night.

Injury Update: Round 11
Adelaide forward Josh Rachele will be on a modified training program this week as he recovers from a corked thigh.

The 19-year-old suffered the injury in a contest early in the final quarter of Saturday night’s loss to St Kilda and was subbed out of the game.

High Performance Manager Darren Burgess said Rachele would be assessed again after Wednesday’s main training session to determine his availability for Saturday’s game against Geelong.

“Josh sustained a reasonable quad cork and he’ll be managed this week and we’ll see how he goes,” Burgess said.
“We’ll give him every chance to come up for the weekend, he will do a modified session on Wednesday and give him every chance to train on Friday and play on Saturday.”
Captain Rory Sloane continues to make progress in his rehabilitation from ACL surgery and has taken on a game-day role on the bench.

“Sloaney is out of the knee brace and moving more freely which I’m sure he and his family are happy with,” Burgess said.

“You might see him on the bench on game day, he’s really helping some of the boys when they come off (the ground) and annoying the hell out of me chirping in my ear about different things that need to happen during the game.

“It’s good to see him back and he’s really starting to get some heavy resistance training throughout his knee and the rest of his lower body so he’s doing really well.”

With Dawson's perforated ear drum, how will that affect him on a plane?

Anyone with medical background or experience in this area?
