Prediction 2022 ladder after 23 rounds

Demons - won't have same luck with injuries, but chemistry and confidence to improve again
Lions - super hungry, need to maintain a good W/L until hipwood is back, midfield is elite

Power - Finally beat good teams, they barely did that this year, they'll toughen up
Tigers - should bounce back up into form, they clearly were off this year
Dogs - did well for 3 quarters but honestly still an embarrassing result, will create some doubt, but they'll come good again
Saints - won't have the hardest draw again, won't have the worst injury list again (based on games missed by 22), Max King looks set to go wild (did second half)
Cats - Getting older, still good enough to make finals, but not good enough to do damage in September. Should hang on.
Swans - Will now get a slightly harder draw (like Essendon), but proved they can beat a handful of good teams, so no need to worry.

---------

Bombers - Played well this year, had the softest draw. Youngsters impressed, so did Parish and Stringer (second half), pushing for finals but just outside.
Blues - Will be around the 8 all year but just too many better teams. Will pull off some big scalps but lose to some low teams also.
Giants - Overachieved this year. Posh private school footy, need to get down and dirty, Hogan could be huge though. finals a chance but unlikely.
Dockers - Similar to Blues, great midfield, solid defence, need to sort the fwd line out though.
Eagles - Like Geelong but nowhere near as good. Ageing stars, dearth of young talent. Best for them to miss the 8 and get a good draft pick; window shut.
Hawks - Hurt but injury but there season ladder finish was no surprise. Too reliant on Mitchell. Wingard showed heaps at the end. Great to get Sic back.
North - Second half of the year showed they aren't the worst. Rapid improvement but still to inconsistent by youngsters. Stevo to become an A grader
Suns - Unfortunately more of the same, they love to tease early then fall away. Their year to pounce is 2023, unless King leaves.
Crows - Improving but not as competitive as sides mentioned above. Higher than Pies due to better HG advantage.
Pies - See above.
You clearly didn’t see our games this year.

It's really hard to know with how close the competition is now days and without a fixture.

Pretty much

1st Melbourne :
Young team with the most complete list IMO. Hard to not see them winning again next year.

2nd Doggies : Missing some key positions desperately need a Ruckmen, But their mildfield should carry them far again.

3rd Power : Much like Geelong they have quite the home ground advantage and a pretty well rounded list hard to see them not finishing top 4 in the H&A season.

4th Lions : Again a pretty solid list with a decent home ground advantage should finish top 4 could do big things if a few of their boys stand up.

5th GWS : GWS are a bit hard to pick could finish anywhere between 2-8 plenty of talent! Who knows what would have happened if Toby played.

6th Geelong : Depends how well their old legs hold out, Not much exciting youth but a decent home ground advantage should finish top 6 in the H&A season but can't see them winning a flag unless they change their game plan.

7th Sydney : Very exciting game plan and lots of talented youth, Lost a few good players in the off season can see them taking a small step back would be really impressive if they could perform the same level as last year.

8th Carlton : Solid list plenty of talent there, Need to tinker around with their game plan a little, good pickups in the off season but a new coach may take some time to settle in.

9th Essendon : I was pleasantly surprised this year with our performance and witnessed a lot of good talent coming through, Although I believe we go backwards a little this year.

10th Fremantle : Hard to pick, They have had a rough go with injuries for a few years now and lost some talent in the off season, Lots of exciting youth but i think they sit about the same as a lot of teams around this mark.

11th Richmond : Seems to have lost a lot of their hunger not sure they want it anymore could easily finish top 8 but I think a lot of teams have gone well past them now.

12th West Coast : Similar to Richmond.

13th Gold Coast : Plenty of stars and good young players could easily finish top 8 but history tells us they wont I honestly have no idea.

14th St Kilda : Who the **** knows, Looked on the way up but last year injuries a harder draft and some players with poor form.

15th Adelaide : Still young and rebuilding will take some time.

16th Hawthorn : Were very impressive towards the end of last season, Their list isn't as bad as people make out. But replaced the best coach in the competition with a bit of a mystery and new coach seems to be more focused on rebuilding/kids interesting times ahead.

17th North Melbourne : Exciting youth coming through but will still take time could easily finish above the 3 above I just think their list is a little more behind and they don't have the same home ground advantage as say Adelaide.

:poo: Collingwood : List isn't the worst similar to Hawthorn, But wowie they have not put a foot right in the last 12 months and will continue to take it's toll.

Everything above are my personal opinions please no beat me <3

It’s going to be really interesting to see how the Dogs go without Bruce and Wood. Does Schache play forward or back? Does Naughton? How do they run the ruck given Martin can barely play and they lost Young as depth? If they’re in contention does Bruce come back for finals?

Brisbane have a similar issue with Hipwood although he should be fit earlier.

Dogs haven’t finished higher than 5th since 2010 across multiple finals appearances with this list. Unless JUH comes on really quickly it’s hard to see them improving and finishing top 2 as so many here have suggested they will without Bruce fit and firing for almost all of the H&A season - not that finishing position has mattered for them recently. 4th-5th seems likely to me, assuming there’s no traditional post-GF belting drop off

I mean they were literally about 9 points away from it across 2 games. It was a case of 5 contenders not fitting into 4 spots.

Interestingly the Dogs have finished on 15 wins twice since the 18 sides came in and missed the top 4 both times. Normally 15 locks you into the top 4.

GF as last year is the norm.

It's always fun to make these predictions and see who is so laughably wrong in November!
1. Western Bulldogs - They did a great job in 2021 and can only improve
2. Brisbane Lions - It is now or never for the Lions
3. Port Adelaide - Despite the Kochie drawback, they should still hang around..
4. Melbourne - Could have an early season hangover, but are good enough to make the four
5. Geelong- Too many good players to fall over completely and if they fix the ruck issue, they will be a nuisance value
6. Essendon - They have a good midfield and will cause trouble
7. GWS - Will make the finals again, but won't make a huge impact
8. Richmond - Depending on Dusty's recovery, they are always capable.

9. St.Kilda - Will just fall short
10. Fremantle - On the right track, but they need 20 games from Fyfe at least?
11. North Melbourne- The big improvers
12. Sydney Swans - To take a nosedive
13. Carlton - middle of the road again.
14. Adelaide- Edging close, but oh so slowly
15. West Coast - Slipping away
16. Collingwood - Not yet and it could take a few years
17. Gold Coast Suns- decision time for their future could be made in 2022
18. Hawthorn - Done diddly Dingley.
